Cordero started at first base and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
A day after manager Alex Cora had Christian Arroyo start at first base against right-hander Dylan Bundy, the manager inserted Cordero there against right-hander Chris Archer. Cora said last week that Arroyo would play "a lot" at first base after second baseman Trevor Story returned from the injured list, but that may not be the case. Additionally, Eric Hosmer (back) is on the verge of a rehab assignment, so whatever happens at first base now could be irrelevant by the weekend or early next week.

Cordero started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Sunday's 12-4 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Cordero homered for a second straight start, but his playing time is expected to take a hit going forward. Red Sox manager Alex Cora told Christopher Smith of MassLive.com that the hot-hitting Christian Arroyo will play "a lot" at first base now that second baseman Trevor Story is off the injured list. The manager said Arroyo could slot in at first as early as Monday.

Cordero went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-8 win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Cordero's fourth-inning homer -- a 356-foot shoe that wrapped around the Pesky Pole in right field -- helped Boston overcome an early 4-1 deficit. It was his third long ball over his last five games. With Eric Hosmer (back) on the injured list, the the lefty-hitting Cordero and righty-hitting Bobby Dalbec have filled in at first base in what has been a return to the platoon that had been in place prior to Boston acquiring Hosmer.

Cordero is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cordero will head to the bench after going 3-for-7 with two home runs and two walks over Boston's last three games, allowing Bobby Dalbec to pick up a start at first base. Though he's on the bench while Toronto brings right-hander Kevin Gausman to the hill, the lefty-hitting Cordero is still expected to handle the large side of a platoon at first base with Dalbec while Eric Hosmer (back) is on the injured list.

Cordero went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
With Eric Hosmer (back) on the IL, Cordero earned his second straight start and made the most of it with a two-run home run over the Green Monster which gave Boston an early lead. Wednesday was also the first time that Cordero reached base three or more times since June 29. While he has failed to put it together in the majors this season, the performance could be indicative of the skills he displayed at Triple-A where he achieved a wRC+ of 157 over 136 plate appearances.

The Red Sox recalled Cordero from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. He'll start at first base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, according to Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican.
EDGE Analysis
Cordero was returned to Triple-A on Monday after he slugged a pinch-hit home run while serving as the 27th man in Sunday's Little League Classic matchup with the Orioles, but he'll be back with the big club just one day later after Eric Hosmer (back) was moved to the IL. in 25 big-league games since the beginning of July, the 27-year-old Cordero has produced a middling .237 on-base percentage and a 43.9 percent strikeout rate. As was the case before Hosmer arrived via trade in August, the lefty-hitting Cordero is likely to serve in the large side of a platoon at first base with the righty-hitting Bobby Dalbec during his latest stint in the majors.
