White tweaked his hip in Thursday's Cactus League matchup against the Guardians, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
White said he hurt his hip early in Thursday's matchup, and the issue bothered him more as the game progressed. The 25-year-old missed most of the 2021 campaign with a hip injury, so the Mariners will likely exercise caution before getting White back onto the field. However, the severity of the issue hasn't yet been revealed.

White made his Cactus League debut Tuesday against the Cubs after completing his recovery from season-ending hip flexor surgery, going 0-for-3 while starting at first base, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While White's two groundouts and a flyout won't exactly send fantasy managers' pulses racing, it was encouraging for the 25-year-old to simply get back into game action for the first time since May 13. White won a Gold Glove award in 2020 at first base, but given Ty France's emergence there last season, the Mariners are experimenting with the former in the outfield, primarily in left, this spring. Defensive versatility may be critical for White, as he's yet to prove he can hit consistently at the big-league level (career .165/.235/.308 slash line) and manager Scott Servais will clearly prioritize keeping France's bat in the lineup. "We all know what Evan can do defensively -- I put him up against anybody in the league," Servais said. "But in our game, the bat is huge. He continues to work with our hitting guys, and he's going to continue to need to make some adjustments offensively with his swing to get the consistency that he's looking for."

White (hip) has been operating at full strength since reporting to optional workouts ahead of spring training on Friday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
White saw his 2021 season cut short after only 30 games, logging his last action of the campaign on May 13. The 25-year-old eventually underwent hip surgery in July, which did give him a head start on his recovery. White was taking part in baseball activities by early November, so the news that he's apparently headed for a restriction-free camp isn't necessarily surprising.

White (hip) has resumed taking part in baseball activities and is expected to have a normal offseason program, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old underwent hip surgery in July and was limited to 30 games in 2021, as Ty France took over the everyday role at first base for Seattle. France is now set to open 2022 as the starting first baseman, per Divish, while White will work in left field during the offseason and spring training to try and add some versatility to his game. White had a .599 OPS in 54 games during the shortened campaign in 2020, and his main positive was his defense as he won a Gold Glove, so he'll need to produce more offensively next season to have a chance of sticking around the big-league roster.

White (hip) will undergo surgery in the near future that will force him to miss the remainder of the season, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
White has been sidelined since mid-May due to a hip flexor issue, and he wasn't able to make much progress in his recovery after he was removed from a rehab assignment in mid-June. It's not yet clear whether the 25-year-old's procedure will force him to miss the start of spring training in 2022.

General manager Jerry Dipoto said Saturday that White's hip injury is "more" ominous than the club originally thought, and that it is very possible the first baseman won't return this season, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported last week that White wasn't close to resuming baseball activities, and based on Saturday's update, it sounds like White has only regressed in recent days. While the first baseman hasn't officially been ruled out for the remainder of 2021, Dipoto's update indicates he almost certainly won't return in July. The club will continue to provide updates on White in coming weeks

White (hip) isn't close to resuming baseball activities, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
White still isn't feeling great after he received a cortisone injection Tuesday, and he's continuing to rest while he recovers from a hip flexor strain. A better idea of the 25-year-old's status could be revealed once he's cleared to resume baseball activities, but it's not yet clear when that could occur.

White (hip) received a cortisone injection Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The recovering first baseman took some time recently to determine the next steps in his recovery, and he apparently opted to go with the injection as a means to reduce inflammation and discomfort for the time being. The timeline for White's potential return to a rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma will likely be determined before the week is out.

White (hip) is still looking to determine his plan of action and the next steps in his recovery, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The young infielder has been on the shelf since May 14, and he recently left the team altogether to seek a second opinion on his ailing left hip. Whenever White is cleared to resume game action, it's presumed he'll return to Triple-A Tacoma, where he'd been assigned on a rehab assignment when he suffered a recent setback.
