Small allowed two unearned runs over 4.1 innings in his first start of the season with Triple-A Nashville. He allowed two hits and posted a 6:2 K:BB in the contest.
EDGE Analysis
Small opened at the Triple-A level for the first time, and he was plenty effective in his season debut. He now owns a 1.83 ERA in 10 career Triple-A appearances, but he also owns a 1.32 WHIP and 30:23 K:BB at the same level, so he still has some things to iron out. If he does, chances are the 25-year-old will see his first action in the big leagues at some point this season.

Small (finger) was activated off the 7-day injured list and started for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Sounds broadcaster Jeff Hem reports.
EDGE Analysis
Small delivered two scoreless frames in his first start since July 6 after being on the injured list with a strained tendon in his left middle finger. The 24-year-old made one rehab appearance with the rookie-level affiliate Tuesday and is now back with Nashville to close out the Triple-A season. He has a 1.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 73:30 K:BB over 56 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this year.

Small (finger) reported to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Small landed on the shelf in mid-July with a strained tendon in his left middle finger, and he'll start a rehab stint in hopes of rejoining Triple-A Nashville for the end of the minor-league campaign. The left-hander has a 1.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 73:30 K:BB across 56 innings between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season.

Small (finger), who was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, won't throw for at least two weeks before being re-evaluated, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Once he's cleared to throw again, Small will need additional time to ramp up for starting duty, so he could be on the shelf for more than a month due to a tendon strain of his left middle finger. Between stops at Nashville and Double-A Biloxi this season, Small has compiled a 1.77 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 56 innings.

Triple-A Nashville placed Small on its 7-day injured list Thursday due to a strained tendon in his left middle finger, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Rosiak, the injury predates Small's appearance in the All-Star Futures Game last weekend, though the southpaw was bothered by the finger issue in that outing. The Brewers are expected to hold him out for a few weeks with the hope that the shutdown period resolves the injury. In his three starts for Nashville since receiving a promotion from Double-A Biloxi in June, Small has given up two earned runs on 12 hits and nine walks while striking out six in 14.2 innings.

Small was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville on Friday with an undisclosed injury.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear at this point what Small is dealing with, but he'll be on the shelf until at least next Friday. The left-hander has allowed just two earned runs across 14.2 innings in his three starts since being promoted to Nashville on June 22. Despite his success, Small was already viewed as a long shot to get a big-league call-up this season. Given that he's now out with injury, the southpaw seems even more likely to remain in the minors through the end of the campaign.

Small was called up to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
One of the organization's top prospects, Small has posted a 2.18 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 41.1 innings at Double-A this season, and will now be one step closer to the major-league club. The Brewers' rotation depth makes it unlikely that Small receives a call-up in 2021, but such a move is not out of the question, especially if his success translates to Triple-A.

Small is 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 38:17 K:BB in 22 innings over five starts with Double-A Biloxi.
EDGE Analysis
Small was tagged for four earned runs over three innings in his first start with Biloxi, but he found his footing quickly, giving up the same number over his last four outings. Walks have been an issue for Small, but punchouts haven't, as he has averaged over a strikeout per inning in all five trips to the mound. Small is one of the Brewers' best pitching prospects and is also 24 years old, so expect him to get a shot to pitch at the Triple-A level at some point this season.

The Brewers announced Wednesday that Small will attend big-league spring training as a non-roster invitee, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old is among a handful of the Brewers' more advanced prospects who will get the opportunity to showcase his skills at big-league camp before likely being reassigned to the minors shortly before Opening Day. A first-round pick in 2019, Small finished out his first professional season at Low-A Wisconsin, making five starts for the affiliate and giving up one run while striking out 31 over 18 innings. Due to the 2020 minor-league season being wiped out, the Brewers could elect to have Small make the jump to the High-A or Double-A level to begin 2021 as the southpaw looks to make up for the lost developmental time.

Small was added to the Brewers' 60-man roster Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
After serving as a non-roster invitee during spring training, Small will be able to develop among other top prospects within the organization at the team's alternate training site this year. The left-hander made two appearances in Cactus League play, allowing one earned run on one hit and three walks while striking out three over 1.2 innings.
