Rockies designated RHP Esmil Rogers for assignment. The move clears room on the roster for Liam Hendriks, who will start Friday. Rogers struck out a batter per inning but posted a 6.97 ERA over 16 appearances for the Jays this season. The 28-year-old still throws in the mid-90s, so he'll land on his feet somewhere.

Esmil Rogers was pounded for 10 runs -- nine earned -- in 2 2/3 innings by the Pirates on Tuesday. Ouch. The wind was a huge problem for Jays pitchers today, but this was a bad showing regardless. Rogers' spring ERA jumped all of the way up to 9.37, though he does have 22 strikeouts to go along with his five homers and 25 hits allowed in 16 1/3 innings this spring. With his roster spot in doubt, the Jays could consider releasing Rogers to save three-quarters or his $1.85 million salary or waiving him in order to attempt to send him to the minors.

Esmil Rogers yielded one run in 4 2/3 innings and fanned six Phillies in his start Thursday. It's not official, but it sure looks like the Jays rotation is set, assuming Brandon Morrow and J.A. Happ finish the spring healthy (Drew Hutchinson figures to get the other spot). Rogers will probably stick around as a middle reliever, though the Jays could also flip him of someone wants to offer up a prospect.

Esmil Rogers gave up four runs and five hits in three innings against the Astros on Thursday. Carlos Correa and Jonathan Singleton hit back-to-back homers off him in the third. Rogers has a $1.85 million deal and is out of options, so he was certainly being penciled onto the Toronto staff at the beginning of the spring. Since he is struggling so far -- he's allowed seven runs and three homers in nine innings -- he seems more likely to pitch in middle relief than make the rotation.

Blue Jays avoided arbitration with RHP Esmil Rogers by agreeing to a one-year, $1.85 million contract. Rogers was arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason. The right-hander shuffled back-and-forth between the rotation and bullpen for the Jays last year, putting up a 4.77 ERA over 137 2/3 innings.

Esmil Rogers allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss against the Orioles on Wednesday. Rogers had some good moments among his 20 starts for the Blue Jays this season, but he ended on a down note on Wednesday. He allowed eight hits, including two home runs, while walking just two. The loss dropped him to 5-9 for the year, and he finishes the season with a 4.77 ERA.

Esmil Rogers was yanked after just 2 1/3 innings in Friday's loss to the Red Sox after allowing a pair of runs on three hits and five walks. Rogers fanned two on the evening, and needed 60 pitches just to record seven outs. All of the damage against him was directly related to his erratic nature, as Dustin Pedroia scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, and Mike Carp drew a bases loaded walk in the third. It's been an up-and-down season for the 28-year-old righty, who will carry a 4.39 ERA and 1.39 WHIP into his final start against the Orioles in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Esmil Rogers restricted Minnesota to three hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in Sunday's 2-0 victory. He struck out four and walked one. Since returning to the rotation on September 2, Rogers has fired 14 shutout innings and surrendered only four hits in two victories. Those two outings, both on the road, were easily his best starts of 2013. Rogers has been on fire, but fantasy owners should be sure to only give him partial credit for today's performance, as he squared off against a lineup card with less than power than North Korea after sunset: Leadoff batter Alex Presley was followed by Chris Hermann, Brian Dozier and Oswaldo Arcia. We'll find out if Rogers' recent success is for real on Friday against Baltimore.

Esmil Rogers held the Diamondbacks to one hit over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in Monday's 4-1 victory. The one base knock was a Martin Prado single in the second inning, and he was immediately erased when Gerardo Parra grounded into a double play. Roges walked one and struck out five, lowering his ERA to 4.76. He's certainly earned another start, which will come this weekend in Minnesota.

Esmil Rogers yielded four runs in five-plus innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Yankees. Outside of a three-batter sequence in the third that went single, double, homer, Rogers was pretty good today, just as he was last week against the Red Sox. He was pulled after Alex Rodriguez's leadoff single in the sixth, and A-Rod later came around to score off Chris Stewart's three-run homer. Rogers remains winless since June 18. He'll probably get the Yankees again next time out, so AL-only leaguers should continue to avoid him.
