Santana (finger) received good news after visiting his surgeon, and he's set to throw in the near future, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was shut down from his rehab assignment after feeling discomfort during a start at Low-A Fort Myers on May 30. However, Dr. Charles Melone was pleased with Santana's progress, and he'll begin throwing again as soon as Thursday. He'll likely still need to complete a minor-league stint before coming off the disabled list, so Santana's return is still a little ways off.

Santana has been recalled from his rehab assignment due to discomfort in his recovering finger, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana will be given some time to rest after feeling discomfort during a rehab start for Low-A Fort Myers on Tuesday. So far in his recovery process, he's struggled to get the velocity on his fastball back, and his secondary pitches aren't being thrown effectively. It's unclear at this point when Santana will be allowed to continue pitching in the minor leagues before ultimately coming off the 60-day disabled list.

Santana's rehab start for Double-A Chattanooga did not go as well as expected and he'll next throw for High-A Fort Myers on Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "He's been throwing for a while, but he hasn't got everything back, in terms of how he's spinning it and how hard he can throw it," manager Paul Molitor said. Santana is on the 60-day DL after offseaon finger surgery.
EDGE Analysis
Santana threw 45 pitches over two innings in Chattanooga on Wednesday, but did not reach 90 mph with his fastball. It sounds like he won't be ready to return from the DL when eligible on Sunday and his return to the rotation may now stretch into late June.

Santana (finger) will make a rehab start Wednesday for Double-A Chattanooga, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was set to make an extended spring start Monday but that plan was scrapped due to poor weather. Assuming his rehab starts go smoothly, he'll likely return to the Twins in early- or mid-June.

Santana (finger) is expected to begin his rehab assignment next weekend after throwing in an extended spring training game Tuesday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana will throw around 60 pitches during Tuesday's outing, which marks his first game back on a mound since starting last season's Wild Card Game in Yankee Stadium. The Twins have yet to announce any sort of concrete plan in regards to the amount of outings Santana will make in the minors, but he appears to be in line for a return to Minnesota in early-to-mid June.

Santana (finger) threw to hitters Monday, Brandon Warne of The Athletic Minnesota reports.
EDGE Analysis
Everything went off without a hitch in what was Santana's first live batting practice session since undergoing offseason finger surgery. He'll throw to hitters again Thursday, and if all goes well the veteran will start in an extended spring training game next Monday before hopefully being cleared to begin a minor-league rehab stint. While the Twins haven't specified how many rehab outings Santana will need before being activated, it sounds like he could be ready to return sometime during the first half of June.

Santana (finger) threw a 50-pitch bullpen session on Thursday and plans to throw to hitters on Monday and Thursday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
If all goes well Santana would make a start in extended spring training on May 21 and then his first rehab start on May 26, according to the report. It's not clear how many rehab outings he'll need, but it sounds like he could be activated from the DL in early June.

The Twins moved Santana (finger) to the 60-day disabled list Saturday, Brandon Warne of The Athletic Minnesota reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move frees up a roster spot with catcher Jason Castro (knee) heading to the DL, but doesn't impact Santana's recovery timetable. The right-hander is now eligible to return May 28 and threw off a mound for the first time Tuesday, making a return at that time or in early June still possible.

Santana (finger) is scheduled to throw 15 pitches off a mound Tuesday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will mark Santana's first time throwing off a mound since undergoing surgery. While it's certainly an encouraging step for the veteran, he remains a ways away from rejoining the big club. Santana will continue to ramp up his activity before he's cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. Fernando Romero is working as the Twins' fifth starter in the meantime.

Manager Paul Molitor said Santana (finger) is "getting close" to throwing off a mound, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana is making solid progress in his throwing program, but he still remains more than a month away from making his 2018 big-league debut, barring any setbacks. Phil Hughes will continue to work as the team's fifth starter until Santana is ready to return.
