The Mariners recalled Swanson from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Two days after sending him to the minors, Seattle will bring Swanson back to provide the team with an extra arm after Wade LeBlanc (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list. Though Swanson worked in relief in his lone appearance with the Mariners this season and will presumably be available out of the bullpen for the next few days, the right-hander could be the top candidate to replace LeBlanc in the rotation the next time a fifth starter is needed Wednesday against the Indians.

Swanson, who was just optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, is a candidate to be called up if Wade LeBlanc (oblique) is forced to miss at least one start, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It could be quick turnaround for Swanson if LeBlanc's Saturday MRI confirms that he'll need to miss at least his next scheduled turn in the rotation on Wednesday versus the Indians. Swanson appeared in one game for the Mariners during his just-concluded big-league stint, allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks while recording four strikeouts over two innings against the Royals on Thursday.

Swanson was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson made one appearance after being called up Tuesday and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over two innings. The 25-year-old figures to return to his starting role with the Rainiers, but should see the majors again at some point this season.

Swanson, who was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, is a candidate to serve in a long-relief role when the Mariners limit one of Yusei Kikuchi's starts near the end of April to a single inning, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Scott Servais delivered the news Tuesday while addressing Swanson's ascension to the big-league club earlier in the day. Kikuchi is projected to log multiple abbreviated starts -- about once per month on average -- as the Mariners look to manage his workload in his first season stateside. Swanson has the experience to handle the multi-inning workload if called upon, having recorded 45 starts over the last two seasons-plus alone at the minor-league level, including one in 2019.

Swanson was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Tuesday's game against the Royals, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Felix Hernandez (illness) only logged one inning in Monday's start, so the Mariners are bringing up Swanson to add some length to a depleted bullpen. He could be used as a starter in the majors at some point this season, and will likely be sent back to Triple-A to continue developing as a starter after he has served his purpose as short-term relief help.

Swanson was sent to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson received an invite to major-league camp after finishing his 2018 season in Triple-A. He posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 78:14 K:BB over 72.1 frames. After picking up some valuable experience in big-league camp, he'll head to Triple-A in preparation for the upcoming season.

Swanson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson, one of three player acquired from the Yankees in exchange for James Paxton, was added to the Mariners' 40-man roster in advance of the Rule 5 draft. The 25-year-old posted a combined 2.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 139:29 K:BB across 121.2 innings with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2018. With his move to Seattle, Swanson will be a candidate to start for the Mariners in 2019.

Swanson was traded from the Yankees to the Mariners on Monday along with Justus Sheffield and Don Thompson-Williams in exchange for James Paxton, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson, a 25-year-old right-hander who has yet to debut in the majors, is the least intriguing minor-leaguer headed to Seattle in Monday's blockbuster deal. He spent the bulk of the 2018 season between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a combined 2.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 139:29 K:BBB across 121.2 innings (24 appearances, 22 starts).

Swanson was placed on the 7-day DL with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, DJ Eberle of the Times Leader reports.
EDGE Analysis
At this point, there has been no word on what sort of injury Swanson is dealing with, so it's difficult to gauge when the 24-year-old will be back in action. Prior to landing on the DL, Swanson had posted a 5.11 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 29 strikeouts over 24.2 innings for the RailRiders this season.

Swanson has a 5.11 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB in 24.2 innings since being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
EDGE Analysis
That ERA isn't very pretty, but his 3.81 FIP and 2.83 xFIP are better indicators of how well he has pitched. His 23.3 K-BB% is outstanding for a starting pitcher, and while he hasn't dominated to the extent he did at Double-A earlier this year (0.44 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 26.9 K-BB% in 40.2 innings), he still seems to be inching closer to making his big-league debut sometime this season. He has a 92-94 mph fastball, a quality changeup and a much improved curveball, giving him a chance to make it as a mid-rotation starter.
