Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With Jason Kipnis returning from the disabled list, there simply wasn't room for Gonzalez at the major-league level. Although the 25-year-old struck out his fair share of times, he managed to post a respectable .263 batting average in 80 plate appearances with Cleveland. He'll now head back to the minors for further development with an eye on a September callup.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs in Friday win over Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
The youngster is taking full advantage of his big-league opportunity while Jason Kipnis remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Although Gonzalez was expected to contribute mostly with his glove, the 25-year-old has provided strong numbers at the plate, too. Since June 1, Gonzalez is 18-for-55 (.327) with five doubles and 11 runs. His lack of plate discipline leaves much to be desired, but he's still offering plenty of production, especially for those in leagues that don't mind the strikeouts.

Gonzalez will garner regular at-bats at second base over the next few weeks while Jason Kipnis recovers from a strained right hamstring, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has been a top prospect in the organization for a bit, but he's had a tough time finding a regular place to play with the loads of talent in Cleveland. The 23-year-old has played a super-utility role in 46 games over the past two seasons with the Tribe, logging at-bats from five different defensive positions. Gonzalez will almost certainly cede the reins back to Kipnis once the latter returns, but the former should hold some value at a cheap price until then.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez is set to enjoy a spike in playing time while Jason Kipnis (hamstring) misses the next few weeks, but All-Star Jose Ramirez's ability to play three infield spots will occasionally result in Gonzalez hitting the bench. Ramirez is manning second base Sunday, opening up a spot at the hot corner for Giovanny Urshela.

Gonzalez has a .289/.304/.467 slash line with two home runs in only 45 at-bats this season.
EDGE Analysis
Most of his playing time has come at second base, but the 25-year-old has also seen time at third, shortstop, and in left field. Gonzalez has been playing fairly well when given the opportunity, but doesn't provide much fantasy value in his current role as Cleveland's super-utility bench player.

Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with his first career RBI and scored a run in Sunday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Although the youngster may not get many opportunities, he's made the most of them this month. In just two June starts, Gonzalez is 5-for-8 with a double and three runs scored. The potential for a solid big-league career exists with the 25-year-old. However, barring an unforeseen circumstance, Gonzalez is not expected to log enough playing time to garner much fantasy relevance in 2017.

Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two runs during Thursday's win over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez had just 11 plate appearances entering Thursday's game, and his 3-for-4 showing accounts for three of his four hits this season. He's locked into a bench role as a super-utility backup, so his fantasy value is extremely limited. His .717 OPS over 201 games at the Triple-A level doesn't jump off the page, either.

Gonzalez feels prepared to take over the team's super-utility role now that he's replaced Michael Martinez, Chuck Crow of The Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez was DFA'd on Sunday, giving Gonzalez the big-league opportunity he's been waiting for. "The Indians prepared me for this moment," said Gonzalez. "I can play the infield and the outfield. This is my opportunity to help the team." The 25-year-old hit .269 (36-for-134) with four doubles, three triples, five homers and 11 RBI in 32 games at Triple-A Columbus.

Gonzalez was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez is expected to provide depth across the infield, but won't be in line for an everyday role so long as Jason Kipnis, Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor are all healthy. The 25-year-old was hitting .269/.293/.455 across 141 plate appearances at Columbus.

Gonzalez could be called up once the Tribe's pitching staff returns to full health in the coming days, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As of Wednesday, the Indians were fielding a nine-man bullpen after placing Corey Kluber on the DL and promoting Joe Colon from Triple-A Columbus. Manager Terry Francona made it clear that this configuration won't last long. Gonzalez is arguably the strongest candidate to fill out the bench. He can provide depth at multiple positions across the diamond, both in the infield and outfield. Gonzalez's bat is also better than the team's current utility man, Michael Martinez.
