Both of those games have seen him start behind the dish, but his path to playing time there is crowded with both Bo Naylor and Cam Gallagher also on the roster. Haase has a paltry .203/.249/.284 slash line with four home runs, four steals, 26 RBI, 22 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple over 290 plate appearances this season. He's gone 2-for-7 with a walk and two strikeouts with Cleveland, but it seems unlikely the 30-year-old will get into the lineup much more than once or twice a week.

The catcher will now either get claimed by another team, report to Triple-A Toledo or be released outright.

Haase is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.

Jake Rogers will do the catching for Tarik Skubal in the afternoon contest. That makes is virtually guaranteed that Haase will be behind the plate for the nightcap with Matt Manning on the mound.

Haase went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored Saturday, but he'll alternate at catcher with Jake Rogers, who slides into the lineup for the series finale. Haase can play in the outfield when he's not behind the plate, though he's started only once in the outfield this month.

Haase went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-4 win over the Royals.

EDGE Analysis

Haase came in batting just .154 in June with only one multi-hit game this month, so the production was somewhat unexpected. The 30-year-old remains in a timeshare behind the plate with Jake Rogers, which limits the fantasy ceiling of both players. Haase did pop 14 home runs last season and 22 long balls in 2021, however, so the Tigers will likely continue to give him plenty of at-bats as he tries to get going.

Haase is starting at catcher and batting ninth in Sunday's game against the Twins.

After Jake Rogers got the start behind the plate Saturday, Haase will take over Sunday. Haase did appear as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning in the last contest. He's batting just .221 this season and only .188 in the month, making him a fairly uninspiring fantasy asset at the moment.
