Castillo (shoulder) played catch Saturday, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saturday's session marked the first time that Castillo has thrown since being diagnosed with a shoulder impingement last weekend. Castillo said all went well Saturday, so while he will be out through the All-Star break, he could be ready to go when play resumes July 12.

Castillo will be sidelined for two weeks due to a right shoulder impingement, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo landed on the injured list over the weekend, and it turns out the injury will keep him sidelined through the All-Star break. With the right-hander on the shelf, Emilio Pagan and Jose Alvarado (personal) should see the majority of save opportunities for Tampa Bay for the time being.

Castillo was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury could explain Castillo's recent struggles, as he's allowed eight runs in 3.2 innings of work over his last two appearances. With Jose Alvarado (personal) still on the restricted list, Emilio Pagan appears to be the top option for saves in Tampa Bay for the near future, though Alvarado's return doesn't appear to be too far off. Hunter Wood was recalled in a corresponding move.

Castillo (1-5) allowed four earned runs on two hits, two walks and a wild pitch over two-thirds of an inning in a loss to the Athletics on Thursday. He recorded one strikeout and was also charged with his first blown save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo was entrusted with a seemingly secure 4-1 lead to start the bottom of the ninth, but the Athletics got to him in nearly every way possible. Despite a rocky start to the inning that included a wild pitch and a rare error by Platinum Glove outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, Castillo was still just one batter away from securing a victory before Matt Chapman blasted a 1-0 slider for a game-winning three-run home run. For Castillo, it was the third outing over his last six in which he got tagged for multiple runs, a rocky stretch that's served to jack up his ERA from 2.15 to 3.51. The 25-year-old does have seven saves and 11 holds, but he may soon see a slight reduction in opportunities for the former once Jose Alvarado is activated from the restricted list.

Castillo picked up the save after giving up two runs on three hits while striking out one in the ninth inning Sunday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo entered the top of the ninth inning with a three-run lead, and he surrendered a two-run blast to Mike Trout before ultimately slamming the door. The 25-year-old made things interesting in the series finale, but he's been one of his club's more reliable arms out of the bullpen this season and owns a 2.56 ERA with 37 strikeouts over 31.2 innings.

Castillo (1-3) earned the win Wednesday against the Blue Jays by allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless 11th inning. He had one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo struggled a bit with his command with only 11 of his 22 pitches going for strikes, but he was able to keep Toronto off the board in the top of the 11th. The 25-year-old has a 2.54 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB over 28.1 innings and has converted all six of his save opportunities.

Castillo allowed a run on two hits but still recorded his sixth save of the season in a 3-1 victory against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has allowed four runs in his last 3.1 innings, but prior to that, he went 10.2 frames without yielding a run. Castillo doesn't receive very many save opportunities because he shares the closer role, but he is 6-for-6 in the chances he's received. Castillo also owns a 2.63 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 27.1 innings this season.

Castillo walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 1-0 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has reeled off eight straight scoreless appearances, picking up three saves and four holds over that stretch. Castillo now sports a 1.57 ERA and 29:7 K:BB through 23 innings, and he might be the closest thing to a regular closer Tampa has at the moment.

Castillo allowed only one hit and struck out two in the eighth inning of Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Marlins, earning his tenth hold of the year.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo also has four saves this season, and he owns a 1.64 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 22 innings. The Rays' bullpen is a committee situation at times, but Castillo's ability to perform in high-leverage situations assures he will continue to challenge Jose Alvarado for ninth-inning assignments.

Castillo didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two in the ninth inning to earn the save Thursday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo was called upon to protect a two-run lead and had no trouble doing so, needing only 12 pitches to sit the Royals down in order. The Rays closing situation remains muddled, though Castillo has now recorded the team's last two saves and was likely called upon Thursday because each of the first three batters he was set to face were right-handed. At least in the short-term it appears that Castillo and Angel Pagan will split closer duties, as Jose Alvarado has failed to record a save since April 7.
