Holmberg was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Friday. The damage for Holmberg actually could have been worse, but reliever Pedro Villarreal stopped the bleeding by getting a strikeout with the bases loaded. Holmberg was roughed up in his previous start on July 8, so he's been unimpressive in limited action with the big club. Whether or not Holmberg makes another start could depend on the status of Homer Bailey, who is currently on the DL with an elbow injury. Then again, Holmberg was so unproductive Thursday that the Reds might try to find another option if Bailey isn't ready. If Holmberg does get another starting nod, it would likely come at Pittsburgh on August 30.
