Festa did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 3.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Festa held the Reds to just a walk and a hit-by-pitch through three innings but ran into trouble in the fourth, allowing three consecutive hits that led to two runs to start the inning, then loaded the bases with a couple of walks that led to him being pulled prior to the end of the inning. It was the second-consecutive start Festa walked three while failing to make it into the fifth inning. Through 55 innings spanning 12 appearances (11 starts), Festa holds a 5.07 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with an impressive 66 strikeouts. His next turn is set to take place when the Twins travel to Boston to take on the Red Sox.

Festa (2-6) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a loss to the Angels on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Festa fell behind quickly in the contest, giving up a pair of runs on a walk and two hits in the first inning. The other two runs he allowed came on a two-run Brandon Drury homer in the third frame. The rookie right-hander has lost each of his past four starts, though this was the first time in that span that he's given up more than three runs. Despite going 1-5 since the All-Star break, Festa has been fairly effective, posting a 3.70 ERA and 54:15 K:BB over 41.1 innings.

Festa (2-5) took the loss Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
It's the second straight tough-luck loss for Festa -- the right-hander held the Rays to a pair of four-inning runs, though Minnesota could only muster one tally off Jeffrey Springs in the eventual defeat. While Festa's now 0-4 in his last five starts, he's pitched to a respectable 3.91 ERA in that span (23 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 4.75 on the season with a 1.20 WHIP and 58:13 K:BB across 47.1 frames. Festa will hope for better luck in his next outing, currently slated for early next week at home against the Angels.

Festa (2-4) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six-plus innings.
EDGE Analysis
Festa was quite good in the outing, and he entered the seventh inning locked in a 1-1 pitcher's duel with NL Cy Young favorite Chris Sale. However, Festa opened that seventh frame with a walk of Marcell Ozuna; he was subsequently given the hook, and Atlanta ended up putting up four runs (only one of which Festa was responsible for) in the inning. The rookie right-hander did achieve a career milestone with his first MLB quality start, and his seven punchouts tied for the second-highest mark of his big-league tenure through nine outings.

Festa (2-3) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Twins fell 6-1 to the Cardinals. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie right-hander tossed an inefficient 75 pitches (45 strikes) as he saw another early exit. The Twins are being cautious with Festa and the 24-year-old has yet to pitch more than five innings in any of his first eight big-league appearances (seven starts), but that babying hasn't led to impressive numbers. Through 36.1 innings, he's served up seven homers and been saddled with a 5.20 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, despite a 44:11 K:BB that highlights his potential. Festa will try to keep the ball in the yard in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Atlanta.

Festa allowed two runs on six hits and no walks while striking out six batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Festa racked up 15 whiffs in the outing as he continues to show good swing-and-miss stuff against big-league hitters. While the rookie right-hander hasn't tossed more than five innings in any of his seven appearances with the Twins, that's largely due to managed workloads -- he's yet to toss more than 82 pitches in an outing. After a pair of rough starts during his initial MLB cup of coffee in late June and early July, Festa has looked much better since rejoining the big club July 24, posting a 2.38 ERA and 31:8 K:BB over 22.2 frames.

Festa allowed a run on three hits and three walks while striking out three over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Festa allowed four of those six baserunners in the fourth inning, which included a Jose Ramirez solo home run as the lone run on his line. Festa needed 70 pitches (46 strikes) in this outing, which was the shortest of his six major-league appearances (five starts) this year. He's now at a 5.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB through 27.2 innings. The rookie right-hander's next start is projected to be at Texas next weekend.

Festa (2-2) earned the win Monday against the Cubs, pitching five scoreless innings while allowing two hits and two walks. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The Minnesota rookie dominated in his first appearance at Wrigley Field, generating 14 whiffs en route to his nine punchouts. After allowing 12 runs in 10 innings over his first two starts, Festa has found a groove in his last three outings, pitching to a 1.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB across 14.1 innings. The 24-year-old is projected to make his next start against the Guardians at home this weekend.

Festa (1-2) took the loss Tuesday as the Twins were downed 2-0 by the Mets, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie right-hander put together his best performance so far in the majors, tossing 44 of 68 pitches for strikes, but Minnesota managed only two hits in support of him. Festa has allowed just three runs in 9.1 innings since returning to the 26-man roster last week, but he continues to have trouble keeping the ball in the yard -- a solo shot by Mark Vientos in the fifth inning Tuesday was the sixth homer Festa has served up in 19.1 big-league frames. With the Twins having failed to add any rotation help at the trade deadline, his spot seems fairly secure for the moment, and Festa lines up to make his next start on the road early next week against the Cubs.

Festa is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Mets at Citi Field.
EDGE Analysis
After being roughed up for 12 earned runs in 10 innings in his first two big-league starts earlier this summer, Festa was deployed as a bulk reliever in this past Wednesday's game against the Phillies following his call-up from Triple-A St. Paul. Upon entering the game behind opening pitcher Steven Okert, Festa delivered by far his best MLB outing to date, striking out seven over four innings of relief while giving up one earned run on four hits and two walks. Despite Festa's success out of the bullpen, the Twins will give him another look in a starting role when his next turn through the rotation comes up in New York. Festa brings plenty of strikeout upside to the table, though keeping the ball in the yard has been a major issue for the 24-year-old both in the majors and minors in 2024.
