Dahl isn't in the lineup Friday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl will take a seat for the first time this season in the Rockies' series opener against the Mariners. Chris Owings will serve as the starting center fielder, batting eighth.

Dahl went 3-for-4 with a double during Friday's 1-0 loss against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl was the only Colorado player who registered a hit in this contest, as the Rockies went 3-for-30 in the season opener. The 26-year-old should remain as the leadoff hitter moving forward -- at least against righties -- after posting a .353 on-base percentage in 2019.

Dahl (oblique) started in Friday's intrasquad game, going 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl missed only two intrasquad games while dealing with core soreness, but the absences shouldn't dramatically impact the 26-year-old's preparedness for Opening Day. The outfielder is projected to serve as an everyday player for the Rockies, though he'll likely slot lower in the lineup against left-handed pitching.

Rockies manager Bud Black said Thursday that Dahl was held out of the team's last two intrasquad games due to "core soreness," Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fortunately for Dahl, the injury doesn't appear to be too concerning, as Black said he expects the outfielder to be ready to go for Friday's intrasquad contest. Dahl was able to do some swinging in the batting cage Wednesday and took part in batting practice Thursday, which supports Black's assertion that the core issue is a minor one.

Dahl is being strongly considered to serve as the Rockies' leadoff hitter this season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl led off just three times last season, with Charlie Blackmon typically filling the role. Dahl doesn't have a ton of speed, stealing a modest 14 bases in 240 career games, but his .346 career on-base percentage should serve him well enough in the role. If he does indeed win the job, expect a shift in his production from RBI to runs as well as more opportunities to run and more total plate appearances.

Dahl agreed to a one-year, $2.475 million deal with the Rockies, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is his first of four years as an arbitration-eligible player. Dahl, who will turn 26 on April 1, has hit .297/.346/.521 as a big leaguer, but injuries have limited him to just 240 games since debuting in 2016.

Dahl (ankle) won't return for the final couple weeks of the regular season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl is progressing in his recovery from a right ankle sprain, but with the season in its closing stages and the Rockies well out of playoff contention there's no real reason to risk rushing him back. The 25-year-old will finish 2019 with a .302/.353/.524 slash line, 15 home runs and 61 RBI in 100 games.

Dahl (ankle) is progressing but may not have enough time to be activated before the 2019 season comes to an end, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 3 due to a high right ankle sprain, and although he's been able to resume running, the Rockies aren't sure he'll be able to play again this year. He'll have just over two weeks to get back to full strength.

Dahl (ankle) has been cleared to do light jogging in addition to taking swings in the batting cage, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The activity represents a step forward from what Dahl was able to do last week, but the Rockies still have yet to pinpoint a target date for the outfielder's return. He can safely be ruled out for this week, as he didn't travel with the team to California for its two three-game series in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Dahl (ankle) said Wednesday that he is "getting better every day," but he is still not jogging yet, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old has been out of action since Aug. 2 with a high ankle sprain. He had previously suggested that he was eyeing a return to Colorado during the first week of September, but that now seems highly unlikely with Dahl still not doing any baseball activities besides throwing and taking dry swings. Dahl has been running on an underwater treadmill to strengthen the ankle. Until he progresses to running on flat ground, his timetable will remain murky.
