Santana is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
With just one hit and eight strikeouts through 17 at-bats this season, Santana is one of several regulars in the Rangers lineup off to a slow start in the 60-game campaign. He'll get a chance to clear his head in the day game after a night game, allowing Scott Heineman to pick up a start in center field.

Santana was moved to second in the order and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Santana hit third in the first three games of the season, but manager Chris Woodward shook up a slumbering offense Tuesday. The lineup tweak did not jolt Santana out of his early struggles, however. He's hitless in his last 14 at-bats and 1-for-17 overall with eight strikeouts out of the gate.

Santana hit his first home run of camp Friday then followed up with a homer and a triple Saturday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana had been hitless over his first 13 at-bats, a stretch that included 10 strikeouts, but he appears to be getting his timing down. "It's funny, because I actually said that to him," Texas manager Chris Woodward said. "One home run, and it might change everything. Confidence is a beautiful thing. It also goes the other way at times. For him, he can get emotional at times. We're trying to get him to understand, just focus on what you can up there." One thing that might help Santana is being tied to one position instead of moving around the diamond. "I am very pleased with this year because I know I don't have to focus on a lot of different positions," Santana said. "It makes it a lot easier that I only have to concentrate on my position in the outfield."

Santana went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts against Corey Kluber in Thursday's intrasquad game, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana is having trouble making contact this summer, going 0-for-13 with 10 strikeouts during simulated and intrasquad games. "I think he's just getting his timing back," manager Chris Woodward said. "I'm not overly concerned. I know he's getting a little frustrated with a couple of the pitches. Because we don't have umpires, we've kind of -- I wouldn't say 'stuck it to him' on a few of those calls -- but a few of those calls were off the plate." Santana will open the season as the starting center fielder but could move around to other positions as needed.

Santana will be the Rangers' primary center fielder, at least early in the season, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team has been testing Nick Solak at the position this spring, and while he looks comfortable, Santana will get the majority of the work there for now. Santana started everywhere except pitcher and catcher last season, so the Rangers will be able to get him in the lineup as long as he's hitting well. Anything close to a repeat of last season's .283/.324/.534 line that was partly comprised of 28 homers and 21 steals will make him a very valuable player for Texas and fantasy owners; however, Santana hit just .219/.256/.319 over the previous four seasons combined, so a repeat can hardly be guaranteed.

Santana (calf) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Monday's Cactus League game against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Santana experienced cramping in his calf in his spring debut Friday, but he's apparently good to go after taking the past two days off to rest and recover. The fact that the Rangers are willing to use him in the outfield rather than as a designated hitter suggests the team isn't concerned about his health.

Santana downplayed the tightness he experienced in his left calf during Friday's spring opener as "just a cramp," T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rangers manager Chris Woodward was optimistic when talking about Santana's activity over the weekend and plans to put him in the lineup Monday against the Reds. "He is pretty much doing everything," Woodward said. "As of right now, everything seems normal. He is jumping around and passing all the tests." Santana was scheduled to have the day off Saturday and was then held out as a precaution Sunday. He will have a significant role for Texas in 2020, likely as the primary center fielder unless Woodward prefers him in a utility role. The Rangers also plan to use infielder Nick Solak in center field -- he started there Sunday -- to see how he adapts to the position.

Santana was lifted from Friday's Cactus League opener against the Royals due to left calf tightness.
EDGE Analysis
The team labeled his removal as precautionary, but it's still a rough start to spring training for the 29-year-old. Santana started in center field and went 0-for-1 before exiting the game after the first frame. The injury appears minor, but he'll likely take things easy for a couple days before potentially returning to game action.

Santana agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million deal with the Rangers on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is his second of three arbitration-eligible seasons, and he gets a significant raise after a surprisingly productive 2019 season. Santana will enter camp as the team's starting center fielder.

Santana went 0-for-3 with two stolen bases, a pair of walks and a run scored in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Santana and Shin-soo Choo performed a double-steal in the first inning, and both scored on Rougned Odor's double to put the Rangers ahead. Santana's second walk of the game came in the third, and he stole second again, giving him 21 swiped bags this year. The versatile veteran has added 28 homers, 80 RBI and 80 runs scored while slashing .282/.322/.535 in 129 games.
