Danny Duffy Shuts Out Astros rotoballer.com Sat 6/23/18 7:37 AM
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy was nearly unhittable on Friday night as he shut down the Astros for six scoreless innings. Duffy allowed only two hits, but he did walk four batters over the course of the outing. He was also bailed out by a couple timely double plays in situations that could have turned out very ugly. Duffy did have a higher average fastball velocity on Friday (95.1 MPH) than he has at any other point this season, so perhaps that bodes well. Unfortunately, this [...]
Danny Duffy Shines On Thursday rotoballer.com Fri 5/25/18 9:41 AM
Kansas City Royals ace Danny Duffy finally put it together again on Thursday as he tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Rangers. Duffy has struggled mightily this season, and as recently as last week, there were rumors that he might be headed to the disabled list or bullpen to get his head right. He quickly put those rumors to bed by only allowing four hits on Thursday. Duffy is still anything but dependable, and while he did get more horizontal movement on both his fastball and slid[...]
Danny Duffy Will Make Next Start rotoballer.com Mon 5/21/18 11:33 AM
Kansas City Royals struggling ace Danny Duffy will still make his next start as scheduled, according to manager Ned Yost. Duffy has been lit up in five of his last six outings, so there were rumblings that he may take a trip to the disabled list or to the bullpen to work on his mechanics, but Yost put a damper on that talk by saying that the team has some plans to help Duffy, and neither of those are options being looked at for now. Duffy should absolutely not be started in any leagues where it [...]
The Cut List (Week 8): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 5/20/18 3:15 AM
Welcome to Week 8 of the Cut List. I'm continuing the standard league viable cut trend that I've been rolling with for a few weeks. I think my pitching cut suggestions have fared rather well over the past few weeks (Danny Duffy, Jeff Samardzija, Sonny Gray, Jacob Faria), but the hitters I've highlighted lately are sort of turning their seasons around (Josh Bell, Matt Chapman, Evan Gattis).
This is the risk I took when I chose to cover standard league viable players. Keep this in mind when you[...]
Danny Duffy Has A Tough Matchup Saturday rotoballer.com Sat 5/19/18 11:09 AM
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy will face the New York Yankees at home Saturday. Duffy has had a tough 2018 so far, with a 6.51 ERA in 47 innings. It does not get any easier facing the Yankees, who rank second in runs, second in slugging and sixth in home runs. Duffy has struggled with walks this season, and the Yankees rank first in the major leagues for walks. In addition, this Yankees lineup is set up to crush left-handed pitching, with six right-handed hitters and a switch hi[...]
Danny Duffy Destroyed By Cleveland rotoballer.com Mon 5/14/18 8:40 AM
In a strange quirk, Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy became the third Royals pitcher in four games to allow exactly nine earned runs in an outing. Duffy struggled once again, allowing eight hits and walking five in just 3 1/3 innings. Duffy is now carrying a 6.51 ERA on the season, and he simply looks lost on the mound. He regularly misses his spots, and when he does, it's often by leaving a mediocre pitch out over the plate that is promptly hit for extra bases. There is no rumor [...]
Danny Duffy A Pitcher To Avoid Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 5/13/18 5:59 AM
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy makes for a tough pitcher to use Sunday. Duffy is pitching in Cleveland where he has a 5.06 ERA in eight starts and two relief appearances. This will be his second start in Cleveland in 2018, having given up three earned runs and three walks with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings last time out. However, Duffy is coming off one of his best starts of the season. In that start, he threw 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts and just one earned run. 2018 [...]
Danny Duffy Smacked Around By Red Sox rotoballer.com Wed 5/2/18 3:27 PM
Kansas City Royals ace Danny Duffy was battered by the BoSox on Wednesday. Duffy surrendered 10 hits in just 6 2/3 innings, including four home runs. Duffy was particularly victimized by Mookie Betts, who went yard three times in the game. This makes three straight poor outings for Duffy as he's given up 26 hits in his last 17 1/3 innings. Duffy has the makings of an ace at times, but so far this season, he definitely shouldn't be started in any leagues.
Danny Duffy Facing A Tough Matchup Wednesday rotoballer.com Wed 5/2/18 3:34 AM
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy will be a tough pitcher to start Wednesday. Duffy has had a roller coaster 2018, with his two good starts having been sandwiched between four bad ones. Duffy's start on Wednesday will in Boston, who have been extremely good this season. In his previous four starts in Fenway, Duffy has not had much success. He is 0-3 with a 7.97 ERA and just 12 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings. Duffy is a pitcher I will be looking to avoid in all formats Wednesday.
