The White Sox optioned Webb to Triple-A Charlotte after Sunday's game against the Royals, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The club recalled Webb to serve as the 26th man on the roster in the second part of a semi-doubleheader, and he did not hang around after the conclusion of the second game. Webb has been less than stellar through six games at Charlotte (12 hits, four walks allowed in 8.2 innings), so he likely will not show up in Chicago until a multitude of injuries strike the big league bullpen.

Webb was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of Sunday's game against the Royals, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports. As the White Sox's 26th man, Webb is not eligible to pitch in the resumption of Friday's suspended game, but will be available for Sunday's normally scheduled game. It's likely that Webb will be demoted back to the minors after the weekend comes to a close.

Webb was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. Webb stood a decent shot at making the bullpen out of camp, but the recent addition of Kyle Drabek likely stuck a fork in that. He will return to Triple-A to begin the 2015 season, but remains one of the top options should an injury occur.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Friday tht Daniel Webb and Maikel Cleto will be used in more high-leverage situations following Nate Jones' (hip) injury. Matt Lindstrom remains the team's closer, but Webb and Cleto could slide into setup roles, potentially putting them in line for some saves if Lindstrom is demoted or injured. "The way (Webb and Cleto are) throwing, you just move them up," Ventura said. "With bullpens you're always going to have guys that are tired and something happens, a little twinge and you're going to have to have a lot of guys come in and be able to fill that in."

Daniel Webb will miss the next few days of White Sox camp due to a death in his family. Our condolences to Daniel and the Webb family. The 24-year-old hurler is in competition with Matt Lindstrom, Nate Jones and Mitchell Boggs for the team's closer job this spring.

Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports that Daniel Webb is excited to have his name mentioned in the mix for the White Sox closer's job, but that his focus is earning a spot on the 25-man roster. The hard-throwing 24-year-old acclimated himself well during his brief audition in 2013, posting a 3.18 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 10/4 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings. Nate Jones, Matt Lindstrom and Mitchell Boggs are also being mentioned as candidates to get the ball in the ninth inning.
