Bard picked up the save Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while fanning two in one inning, while also hitting a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Bard notched his third save of the season, but it wasn't a crisp performance for the 35-year-old -- he walked Kole Calhoun to begin the inning, allowed a run on an RBI single from David Peralta, and he ultimately loaded the bases before striking out Nick Ahmed to close the game out. Bard has now allowed runs in four of his last six appearances, compiling a 7.20 ERA in five innings across that stretch.

Bard pitched a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout to earn the save in Monday's 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Bard retired Eduardo Escobar and Nick Ahmed with groundouts before fanning Stephen Vogt to end the game. It was a change of pace to see Bard keep runs off the board -- he's allowed a run in three of his last five outings. The 35-year-old is up to two saves with a 4.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Bard (1-2) failed to record an out and allowed a walkoff homer to Cody Bellinger to take the loss Saturday versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Bard's second pitch to Bellinger was deposited into the right-field seats for the Dodgers' walkoff win. The 35-year-old Bard has now allowed a run in three of his last four outings. He has a 4.50 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 12 innings this season. He's recorded a save and a hold in 12 appearances and figures to continue to work in high-leverage situations.

Bard has given up one run in two of his three appearances since recording a save Aug. 11 against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
On Aug. 16, Carlos Estevez came in after Bard gave up one run to pick up the save, so Estevez seems like the slight favorite in the current committee. Estevez has also been a bit more effective of late and logged two scoreless frames Thursday against the Astros in a non-save situation. However, Bard might be called on if a save situation were to arise Friday, due to Estevez's recent usage.

Bard could see some save opportunities in the coming games, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jairo Diaz has been working as the Rockies' closer recently with Wade Davis (shoulder) remaining sidelined. However, Diaz has been inconsistent in recent games and was unable to finish Sunday's game against the Rangers as he struggled mightily with command. Manager Bud Black said after the game that the team will steer away from using a designated closer in the coming games, which could open the door for Bard to see more work in the ninth inning. In his return to the mound in 2020, Bard has made nine relief appearances, recording a 3.60 ERA and 12:0 K:BB over 10 innings while converting on his only save opportunity. If he can pitch consistently in the near future, he could emerge as the team's favorite option for save situations.

Bard recorded the final out via strikeout to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Phillip Diehl and Jairo Diaz combined to allow five runs while recording just two outs in the ninth inning, but Bard was able to whiff pinch hitter Stephen Vogt to lock down the save, his first of the year. Bard has a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 12 strikeouts across nine innings this season. He's not expected to get many chances for saves -- ninth-inning duties have typically gone to Diaz or Wade Davis this season.

Bard (1-0) earned the win coming off the bullpen during Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Rangers. He tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning one.
EDGE Analysis
Bard came into the game with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, and he tossed 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win. What makes this even more surprising is the fact that Bard hadn't featured in an MLB game since 2013 prior to his relief appearance.

Bard will begin the season on the Rockies' major-league roster.
EDGE Analysis
After announcing his retirement from professional baseball in January of 2018, Bard signed with the Rockies in February as a non-roster invitee. He impressed enough in camp to earn a spot with Colorado's pitching staff to begin the regular season. The 35-year-old last appeared in the majors in 2013.

Bard will hang up his cleats and retire from professional baseball prior to the 2018 season, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bard had been toiling around in the minor leagues for the past few years and was working toward a comeback to the majors that never quite materialized. The 32-year-old was a quality reliever for the Red Sox near the beginning of this decade, and last pitched in the big leagues for the club in 2013. Recently, Bard pitched for Double-A Springfield within the Cardinals' system in 2017, but was released by the team in late May. He will call it a career after playing in over 200 games in the majors, posting a 3.67 ERA and accumulated 252 strikeouts.

Bard was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Bard was one of 12 players cut by the Cubs on Thursday. He signed a minor league contract in January and is likely headed for Triple-A Iowa.
