All four runs against Dunning came during the first inning after he walked four of the first five batters he faced. While he didn't allow another run, he still loaded the bases twice more before leaving the contest. The six walks set a new season high while his ERA climbed to 3.36. In eight appearances since the All-Star break, Dunning has registered a 4.43 ERA. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mets next week.

Dunning surrendered a solo home run to Carlos Santana in the first and needed 26 pitches to get out of the inning. The right-hander would again get tagged for a solo shot in the sixth, this time off the bat of Willy Adames, marking just his third time allowing multiple home runs in a start this season. Dunning had logged three quality starts in a row coming in and still holds a 2.81 ERA in August to go along with a 33:5 K:BB. However, he's now lost four of his last five decisions and has allowed seven hits in two straight.

Dunning allowed just one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out a career-high 12 batters in seven innings Sunday against the Giants. He did not factor into the decision.

Believe it or not, Dunning was actually in line for the loss when his day was done, but the Rangers were able to push the game to extras after scoring in the ninth. The only blemish on the day for him was a solo home run allowed to Michael Conforto in the second. The 28-year-old had set a career-best with 11 strikeouts Aug. 2 against the White Sox and turned in yet another masterpiece Sunday. He now has three 10-plus strikeout games over his last nine starts after having just one in his first 70 career starts. Dunning also became just the eighth pitcher in franchise history to throw at least 12 strikeouts without walking a batter. He now holds a 3.10 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 97:34 K:BB in 127.2 innings and lines up to face the Brewers his next time out.

Dunning notched his third quality start in five outings since the All-Star break, though it was a fairly pedestrian effort. He three 55 of 94 pitches for strikeouts and walked multiple batters for the third time in that span. The right-hander is now at a 3.21 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 85:34 K:BB through 120.2 innings over 25 appearances (17 starts this season. Dunning is projected for a road start in San Francisco over the weekend.

Dunning (9-4) earned the win over the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 11 batters over 7.2 innings.

Dunning was staked to a 7-0 lead after two frames and cruised from there, keeping Chicago off the scoreboard until Seby Zavala tagged him for a solo homer in the eighth. That was the only run Dunning gave up in a dominant outing during which he racked up 16 swinging strikes and a season-high 11 punchouts. This was a very positive start to August following an up-and-down July that saw the right-hander post a 5.06 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB over 26.2 frames covering five starts.

His season ERA has jumped to 3.28 after entering the month at 2.69. Dunning's next outing is projected to be at home against the White Sox.

Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy both took Dunning deep in the third inning, kicking an 18-hit, five-homer eruption from the Los Angeles offense into high gear. It's only the second time this season the right-hander has served up multiple home runs in an outing, but Dunning's early season stinginess has evaporated -- since the beginning of June, he has a 4.17 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 32:16 K:BB through 54 innings, getting tagged for all nine of his homers allowed on the year during that time. The right-hander finished with his fifth quality start over his past six outings, a span during which he's posted a 2.90 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB over 40.1 innings while picking up three wins. Dunning's lack of strikeouts limits his value in fantasy, but he's emerged as a reliable starter for the Rangers since moving into the rotation May 5, registering a 3.09 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 6-2 record despite a poor 52:20 K:BB across 78.2 innings covering 13 starts.

Though Dunning has had an impressive first half of 2023, he struggled against one of baseball's bottomfeeders, tying his season high in runs allowed and failing to finish six innings for the first time since June 17. Dunning has reeled off four straight quality starts and won four straight decisions since the beginning of June, posting a 3.29 ERA and 23:11 K:BB in his last six outings (38.1 innings).
