Adames is on the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adames seemed to be on the outside looking in for a roster spot toward the end of Cactus League play, but with the demotion of prospect Jordan Patterson, Adames will get the opportunity to suit up for Colorado's opener in Milwaukee. He isn't tabbed for too much playing time and doesn't have great stats at the major-league level to increase his stock, but he recently added first base to his defensive repertoire, so he could enter the lineup as a defensive replacement toward the end of games if the need arises.

Adames is 11-for-42 (.262) with three home runs in 23 Cactus League games.
EDGE Analysis
Adames is incorporating first base into his defensive repertoire in an effort to land an Opening Day roster spot, and his bat is helping to strengthen his argument. However, the power surge might not be enough to help the switch-hitter punch his ticket to the big leagues, as Jordan Patterson and Stephen Cardullo seem to be the front-runners to fill the void left after Ian Desmond (hand) went down due to injury.

Adames was practicing at first base Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The switch-hitting utility man seems to be pretty low on the pecking order compared to Mark Reynolds, Jordan Patterson, and Stephen Cardullo, but this development could add some value to his game as he attempts to win a reserve super utility job out of spring training. Alexi Amarista also seems to have that market cornered, but given Adames' outstanding Cactus League showing thus far (1.010 OPS, two home runs in 27 plate appearances), he could force the Rockies to open up a spot for him in Denver.

Adames' roster spot could be in jeopardy with Alexi Amarista vying for a reserve utility role this spring, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adames was afforded a sizable amount of playing time last season after Trevor Story (thumb) went down due to injury, but his batting line at the end of the season sat at a measly .218/.304/.302. The one thing going for the switch hitter is that he is out of options, meaning the Rockies would need to expose him to waivers if they wanted to send him back to the minor leagues, although with Amarista now in tow and prospect Pat Valaika also in the mix, Adames appears to be the odd man out as things stand now. This could change if the 25-year-old has a strong spring showing, although it's hard to fathom that the Rockies wouldn't give the nod to Amarista after investing over $1 million in him over the offseason.

Adames is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Jenny Cavner of ROOT Sports Rocky Mountain Region reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adames saw a string of starts last week when Daniel Descalso was on the paternity list, but his window for extensive action seems to have closed. Descalso hit a pinch-hit homer Friday and homered again while starting in Saturday's game, so he'll be rewarded with another start at shortstop Sunday. Adames may now have to settle for splitting duties at the position with Descalso in a best-case scenario.

Adames could see an uptick in playing time with Trevor Story (thumb) likely out for the year.
EDGE Analysis
Adames has acted as one of the main reserve infielders for Colorado all season, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for the switch-hitter to garner some extra starts as the season rolls along. That being said, his .186 batting average certainly doesn't help his cause in attaining this newly-opened role, which could lead the Rockies to instead rely more upon Daniel Descalso and his .324 average, as was the case Tuesday night. Adames' will likely remain in consideration for starts given his highly-touted defense, but unless his bat catches up with his glove, it'll be tough for manager Walt Weiss to pencil the 25-year-old into the lineup with regularity.

Adames is hitting second and starting at shortstop Wednesday against the Blue Jays, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
EDGE Analysis
Trevor Story re-injured his finger in Tuesday's game and is out of the lineup Wednesday, so Adames gets the nod. It doesn't sound like Story's injury is too serious, and he will get a chance to get another day of rest with Thursday's off day, so Adames time as a starter could be limited. However, as the No. 2 hitter in Coors Field on Wednesday, he makes for a solid play in daily leagues.

Adames is in the lineup and batting second for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adames will get the start at shortstop in place of Trevor Story. The 24-year-old is hitting .224/.333/.328 with seven RBI and five runs through 51 games as a reserve.

Adames is slashing .217/.319/.317 in 60 at-bats this season.
EDGE Analysis
Adames' slash line certainly isn't impressive, and he'll likely have trouble raising any of those numbers considering his highly limited role with the big league club. As long as D.J. LeMahieu, Trevor Story, and Nolan Arenado stay healthy, the switch-hitter will likely continue to sit the bench with regularity.

Adames went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old blasted a two-out, two-run shot off reliever Jared Hughes, adding to the Rockies' lead and marking the first time he'd gone deep in 106 major league at-bats. Despite the positive development, Adames is receiving limited playing time, and only slashing .184/.262/.263 in 38 at-bats this season.
