Kimbrel has turned back the clock so far in 2021 and looks like the perennial All-Star that he was earlier in his career.

Kimbrel got the final out of the ninth and remained in the game for the 10th after Javier Baez gave the Cubs a two-run lead. Placed runner Paul Goldschmidt crossed the plate but Kimbrel was able to limit the damage to guarantee the victory. He's only allowed two runs in nine May innings.

Kimbrel earned the save against the Nationals on Thursday by tossing a scoreless inning. He allowed one hit while striking out three.

It was a nice bounce-back effort after Kimbrel blew his second save of the season in his last appearance Saturday. Kimbrel allowed one walk with zero strikeouts during a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Saturday versus Pittsburgh.

The 32-year-old delivered a two-out walk to Phillip Evans but otherwise had no issues setting down the Pirates. Kimbrel is 6-for-7 in save chances with a 0.64 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB through 14 innings to begin the 2021 campaign.
