Craig Breslow requested $2.375 million and was offered $2.325 million from the Red Sox when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday. Breslow is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter. With such a small difference in filing numbers, it shouldn't take much time for the two sides to hammer out a satisfactory agreement.

Red Sox acquired LHP Craig Breslow from the Diamondbacks for OF Scott Podsednik and RHP Matt Albers. Breslow has a 2.70 ERA and 42/13 K/BB ratio over 43 1/3 innings this year and is a nice fit for Boston's bullpen as a left-handed specialist. And, of course, the price was right: Podsednik and Albers were spare parts in Boston. The deal also allows Boston to return hard-throwing left-hander Franklin Morales into the rotation, if it so chooses.

The D'Backs and LHP Craig Breslow avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.795 million contract. Breslow requested a $2.1 million salary and was offered $1.5 million from the Snakes when arbitration figures were exchanged in mid-January. It took around three weeks for the two sides to find a middle ground.

Craig Breslow requested $2.1 million and was offered $1.5 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday. Breslow, who was acquired from the Athletics last month in the Trevor Cahill deal, is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter. The 31-year-old left-hander posted a 3.79 ERA and 44/21 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings. They should be able to settle around the midpoint of $1.8 million.

Diamondbacks acquired LHP Craig Breslow, RHP Trevor Cahill and cash considerations from the Athletics for RHPs Ryan Cook and Jarrod Parker and OF Collin Cowgill. Breslow, 31, posted a 3.79 ERA and 44/21 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings this season. He should fair a little better with the league switch, though his fly ball rate could be an issue. The southpaw figures to make close to $2 million in his second year of arbitration, so it looks like the A's wanted to dump his salary.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that the Diamondbacks would also receive left-hander Craig Breslow from the Athletics in a deal for right-hander Trevor Cahill. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle mentioned this very same scenario earlier this week. Breslow, 31, posted a 3.79 ERA and 44/21 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings this season. The southpaw figures to make close to $2 million in his second year of arbitration.

Craig Breslow is likely unavailable to pitch Sunday due to a knot in his left shoulder. The A's aren't concerned that it's anything serious, so we should consider the lefty reliever day-to-day. He's posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 47 games this season.
