After starting each of the last four games, the lefty-hitting Carroll will get a breather as the Diamondbacks close out their pre-All-Star-break schedule with a matchup against a southpaw (Yusei Kikuchi). Carroll has endured a disappointing first half in which he's slashed just .213/.300/.335, but he turned in two big games in his starts against Toronto earlier in the weekend, going 3-for-8 with two home runs, two walks, two stolen bases, seven RBI and four runs between those contests. Fantasy managers will maintain hope that Saturday's two-home-run performance in particular portends a big second half for the 23-year-old outfielder.

Carroll hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning and added a two-run homer one inning later as Arizona romped to victory. For the season, he has just five long balls to go with a .213/.300/.335 slash line, 32 RBI, 60 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 16 doubles and six triples over 93 contests.

Carroll was part of the Diamondbacks' three-run sixth inning to grab the lead. He singled in a run, stole a base, then came home on a bases-loaded walk. The steal was his team-leading 16th. Carroll has moments where he can impact a game -- he had a leadoff home run Sunday -- but overall the outfielder continues to struggle at the dish. That two-week stretch early in June when Carroll had a .943 OPS has given way to a .521 figure over the last 17 games.
