Burnes (pectoral) is listed as the Brewers' probable starter for Sunday's game against the Red Sox at American Family Field.
EDGE Analysis
Burnes' inclusion on the Brewers' weekend pitching schedule confirms that he checked out fine after throwing a bullpen session Wednesday. The right-hander exited his start in Monday's win over the Mariners with a left pectoral strain, but his removal looks to have been mostly precautionary in nature. Through four starts on the season, Burnes is 2-1 with a 4.76 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 22.2 innings.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Burnes' (pectoral) throwing session Wednesday "went well," Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burnes said he was already feeling better the day after being pulled from his start Monday against Seattle. Now that he's shown no issues throwing just two days after the injury, it appears the team plans to have him start Sunday against Boston. The 28-year-old righty holds a 1.35 ERA and 0.60 WHIP with 11 strikeouts across 13.1 innings in his last two appearances.

Burnes (pectoral) is still scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burnes left his start against the Mariners on Monday with a left pectoral strain, but the right-hander is scheduled to play catch Wednesday and still listed as the probable starter against Boston. There's still a chance that the 28-year-old misses the outing, but it does appear that Burnes has avoided a significant injury at this stage.

Burnes (pectoral) will play catch Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burnes said Tuesday that he's feeling much better after being pulled from Monday's start with a strained left pectoral muscle. More will be known regarding his status for his next scheduled start Sunday against Boston after he plays catch, but the 28-year-old ace remains very confident he won't miss his next turn.

Burnes suffered a left pectoral strain in Monday's game against the Mariners but it's possible he could make his next start, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per McCalvy, the early read is that it's a minor strain, but the Brewers will monitor the situation closely over the next few days. Burnes left with the trainer after 85 pitches, but he was able to pick up his second win of the season after striking out three over 5.1 innings of one-run ball. His status will likely be updated throughout the week in advance of this weekend's home series against the Red Sox.

Burnes exited Monday's game against the Mariners in the sixth inning with the trainer, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Julio Rodriguez flew out to center field on Burnes' 85th pitch of the night and Burnes immediately motioned to the dugout that he needed to come out of the game. Burnes gave up one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out three in 5.1 innings and he left with a 4-1 lead over Seattle.

Burnes moved to 1-1 on the season after striking out eight and allowing three hits and no walks over eight shutout innings in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
After he was roughed up for 10 earned runs and posted a 6:5 K:BB in 9.1 innings between his first two starts of the season, Burnes at least temporarily quelled any concerns about his demise by turning in a dazzling outing in Arizona. He was locked in a pitcher's duel with Merrill Kelly through the first six innings before Milwaukee finally broke through with a five-run seventh inning, providing all the cushion that Burnes would need on the night. He needed just 89 pitches to record his 24 outs and threw 65 strikes in the start, with 16 generating swings and misses.

Burnes didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Mets, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Five of the seven hits went for extra bases, including two homers by Pete Alonso, but Burnes was quickly taken off the hook for a loss after exiting when Milwaukee tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The right-hander threw 57 of 93 pitches for strikes but managed only five swinging strikes, and the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner has had a bumpy beginning to his 2023 campaign with a 9.64 ERA and 6:5 K:BB through two starts and 9.1 innings. Burnes will try to use a possible two-step next week to get on track, as the Brewers head out on a road trip that takes them through Arizona and San Diego.

Burnes (0-1) gave up four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings during Thursday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Burnes started off solid through two innings Thursday, but then allowed four runs in the third inning, which proved to be all that Chicago needed to secure the win. Burnes' three strikeouts also ties his career low (in a start) and adds to an uncharacteristic outing for the former NL Cy Young Award winner.

Burnes will start Opening Day versus the Cubs on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
For a second straight year, Burnes will make an Opening Day start at Wrigley Field, with Marcus Stroman toeing the rubber for the other side. Although Burnes has been locked into a heated contract negotiation with the Brewers this offseason, it's unlikely that it'll affect his play on the mound. The right-hander produced a 2.94 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 243 strikeouts over 202 innings over 33 starts in 2022 and is one of the very best pitchers in the league.
