Seabold (elbow) threw a live batting practice session this week, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elbow inflammation has kept the righty out of action since early May. Along with Tanner Houck (elbow), Seabold is one of two minor-league starting pitching options on Boston's 40-man roster. While he's not yet close to returning, Seabold may factor into the big-league pitching equation later this season for the Red Sox.

Seabold (elbow) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seabold began a throwing program in mid-May, and he was able to throw off a mound Friday. The right-hander will likely need to build back up since he's been sidelined since early May with elbow inflammation, but he's making progress in his recovery.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Seabold (elbow) has started a throwing program, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seabold is likely just throwing off flat ground at this point, but the activity at least represents a positive sign for the right-hander, who has been shut down since the beginning of the month with elbow inflammation. Once the 25-year-old completes a throwing progression that will likely span multiple weeks, he should slot into the Triple-A Worcester rotation.

Seabold (elbow) is not throwing yet, but he is starting to feel better, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seabold is dealing with elbow inflammation. The injury was expected to be minor, though he it appears it will still be a while before he is able to retake the mound for Triple-A Worcester. He posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.12 WHIP and a 30:10 K:BB across 40 innings with Double-A Reading in 2019.

Seabold is expected to be sidelined at Triple-A Worcester to begin the season while he contends with right elbow inflammation, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox don't believe Seabold's injury is anything too serious, but he'll likely miss at least one or two turns through the rotation to begin the Triple-A season. Seabold's last action in affiliated ball came in 2019, when he was a member of the Phillies organization. Over his seven outings at Double-A Reading, Seabold posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB in 40 innings.

Seabold's contract was purchased by the Red Sox on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from Philadelphia in the Brandon Workman/Heath Hembree trade, Seabold has a chance to develop into a back-end starter in the not-so-distant future. The 24-year-old righty should open the year at Triple-A and could reach the majors sometime this summer.

Seabold was traded from the Phillies to the Red Sox on Friday in exchange for Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree.
EDGE Analysis
Seabold was included in the Phillies' 60-man player pool to begin the season, and he'll now work within the Red Sox organization. It's possible that the right-hander could reach the major-league level at some point during the 2020 season. However, he's likely at least a season away from competing for a more permanent spot on the major-league roster. Seabold posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 40 innings in seven starts with Double-A Reading last season. Once he reaches the majors, he could presumably serve as a back-end starter or middle reliever.
