Pennington came in for the injured Ender Inciarte on Monday and went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Anaheim. He played the outfield for the first time this year. Pennington hasn't had much success at the plate this year, posting just a .176/.291/.205 line on the year, which has limited him to just 89 plate appearances.

Pennington, a .248/.315/.350 career hitter at the highest level, doesn't get a whole lot of attention in fantasy circles, but his strong defense at the middle infield positions make him a valuable piece for major league teams.

Pennington hit a solo home run in a pinch hit appearance in the Diamondbacks' 7-4 loss to the Padres on Sunday. On the day that he was placed on revocable waivers, Pennington delivered with his first home run since August 15 and second of the month. Although he has started the majority of his games in August, the pinch hit raised his average to .320 in the month.
