The Kansas City Royals designated infielder/outfielder Chris Owings for assignment on Friday and called up third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. Nicky Lopez - Welcome to the Show! rotoballer.com Tue 5/21/19 10:00 AM

Amidst a week headlined by the call-ups of top prospects Keston Hiura, Brendan Rodgers and Austin Riley, it was easy to miss the Royals promotion of middle infielder Nicky Lopez. However, Lopez has wasted no time proving he warrants to be fully on our fantasy radars just like the rest of the bunch.Lopez has already shown the potential to be elite in both batting average and in limiting strikeouts. Thats a good starting off point, but theres more. How worthy is he of an add in fantasy leagues? Let[...]

Chris Owings Is Terrible So Far rotoballer.com Mon 4/29/19 10:14 AM

Kansas City Royals second baseman/outfielder Chris Owings wasn't expected to be a world-beater, but his performance so far has been amazingly bad. After going 1-for-4 in Sunday's game against the Angels, Owings is now hitting .163 on the season. He's striking out 32% of the time, his OPS is just .513, and he has the sixth-worst wRC+ in the entire league. It feels like this is manager Ned Yost's throwback player, as he famously ran Alcides Escobar and Omar Infante out there every day even thou[...]

Deeper AL-Only Waiver Wire Sleepers for Week 3 rotoballer.com Thu 4/18/19 7:00 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can.The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when needed. I[...]

Chris Owings Doubles, Steals Third rotoballer.com Wed 4/10/19 2:34 PM

Kansas City Royals second baseman Chris Owings has been the least-hyped piece of the Royals middle-infield crew, but he could turn out to have some fantasy value. Owings doesn't have the elite hit tool that Whit Merrifield possesses and he certainly isn't going to win a foot race with Adalberto Mondesi, but Owings brings a well-rounded approach that has included seasons with 20-plus stolen bases and 10-plus home run pop. [...]
