Chris Johnson launched a solo homer in the eighth inning on Friday, breaking a scoreless tie and powering the Braves to a 1-0 victory over the Phillies. Johnson finished the night 1-for-3 with a strikeout. Kris Medlen and Cliff Lee were engaged in a tremendous pitching duel the entire evening, with the only offense in the game coming on Johnson's dramatic blast in the bottom of the eighth inning. A recent slump has dropped his batting average to .324, making it unlikely that he'll catch Michael Cuddyer (.335) for the National League batting title in the final days of the regular season.

Chris Johnson is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Brewers. He's presumably getting the night off. Elliot Johnson will start at third base and bat eighth.

Had the right call been made, the inning would have ended before Johnson had a chance to hit. The homer was Johnson's 10th of the season. He was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts before the big blast.

Johnson was in the right place at the right time on Wednesday, bringing in one run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and plating two more with a bases-loaded single in the second. He leads the NL with a .337 batting average, and the runs batted in gave him 53 RBI this year.
