Kelly was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With starter Yadier Molina set to miss at least a month due to a brutal groin injury, Kelly will get the call to provide catching depth in St. Louis. Look for him and Francisco Pena to split the majority of reps behind the plate. Don't look for Kelly to serve as a direct fantasy replacement for Molina, as Kelly has a career .171/.236/.220 slash line through 89 plate appearances.

Kelly was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly hit .283/.375/.459 over 68 games at Triple-A Memphis during the 2017 season. His sound performance resulted in him earning a chance to play for the big club. However, his bat was quiet in the Show, as he hit .174 with a .457 OPS over 34 games with the Cardinals. After going 3-for-30 (.100) this spring, Kelly will return to Memphis and look to get back on track.

Kelly is hitting .130 (3-for-23) with two doubles, two RBI, four walks and two runs in nine spring training games.
EDGE Analysis
The struggles are an extension of Kelly's prior stints against major-league pitching. The 23-year-old backstop slashed just .171/.236/.220 with no homers and seven RBI across 44 regular-season big-league games in 2016-17, and hit just .182 over 33 spring at-bats last season as well. Kelly has been a solid hitter in his last three minor-league stops at Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis, so the expectation is that he'll come around while likely serving as Yadier Molina's backup in 2018. Even a slight improvement in his luck at the plate would help matters, as Kelly has been victimized by abnormally low .182 and .207 BABIPs in his first two regular-season major-league stints.

Kelly went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly drew the start in place of Yadier Molina (concussion), but his difficult month at the dish continued. Factoring in Tuesday's contest, Kelly is slashing just .150/.261/.200 over 23 September plate appearances, a stretch in which he's only managed one extra-base hit (a double) and one RBI. The rookie backstop could behind the plate again Wednesday if Molina is sidelined once again.

Kelly went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie catcher started in place of Yadier Molina (abdomen) and ended up contributing the first multi-hit effort of his career. Kelly has generally struggled against big-league pitching thus far, however, as Tuesday's production snapped what had been a 3-for-19 tally in August.

Kelly went 1-for-5 with a two-run double and a run in Friday's 11-4 win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
A late addition to the lineup after Yadier Molina (ankle) was sidelined, Kelly extended the Cardinals' lead to 8-3 with a rope to deep left in the eighth that plated Paul DeJong and Kolten Wong. Kelly had been coming on at Tripe-A Memphis before being called up, as he'd recently hit a career-high 10th home run and was carrying a solid .283/.375/.459 line. He'll slot in as Molina's backup now that veteran Eric Fryer has been jettisoned, but will take a seat Saturday with Molina back in the lineup.

Kelly was added to Friday's lineup due to Yadier Molina's late scratch with right ankle discomfort, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly was virtually placed into the lineup during the first pitch after it was decided that Molina could not play in the series opener. Manager Mike Matheny slide Kelly behind the plate for his first start of the 2017 season while placing him eighth in the order.

Kelly was promoted by St. Louis prior to Friday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly joined the big-league club for 10 games last season, going 2-for-13 at the plate with one RBI in a brief stay with the Cardinals. While at Triple-A Memphis this season, the 22-year-old has greatly impressed the organization, hitting .283/.375/.459 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI while figuring it out behind the plate. With Eric Fryer getting handed a DFA on Friday, Kelly will be Yadier Molina's backup moving forward.

Kelly's two-run home run in Triple-A Memphis' win over Round Rock on Saturday was his ninth of the season and established a new career high, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The promising backstop is now hitting .314 with two homers, eight RBI, seven walks and eight runs over his last 10 games, a stretch that includes a pair of multi-hit efforts. Kelly is slashing a solid .284/.381/.457 and has driven in 39 runs overall in what is his second go-around with the Redbirds, but ageless veteran Yadier Molina continues to have a firm hold of the starting catcher job at the major-league level.

Kelly, 22, is hitting just .216 over his last 10 games for Triple-A Memphis.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly does have a home run and six RBI over that span, though that dinger is his only long ball in over a month. Kelly is still batting a respectable .278/.367/.441 overall, though remains stuck behind Yadier Molina indefinitely.
