Friday marks the first time Fulmer has thrown off a mound since he landed on the injured list in late August due to right elbow inflammation. It's still unclear if the right-hander will be able to pitch again before the end of the season, though the Angels likely won't be in any rush to insert him back into their rotation given the fact they have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Fulmer landed on the injured list Aug. 30 due to right elbow inflammation. He first noticed the issue during his Aug. 25 start but continued pitching, and he attempted to throw a bullpen session days later before the decision was made to put him on the IL. While the injury doesn't appear to be serious and there remains a chance of Fulmer returning to action this season, the Angels are unlikely to rush his recovery since they are well out of the playoff race.

The Angels placed Fulmer on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right elbow inflammation, retroactive to Aug. 27.

Fulmer allowed two runs and struck out eight batters over six innings during his last start Saturday, though he appears to have come away from his outing with elbow problems. He'll now be forced to sit out until at least Sept. 11, and the Angels will select Samuel Aldegheri from Double-A Rocket City to fill the open spot in the rotation and start Friday's game against the Mariners.

Fulmer (0-5) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings.

Fulmer's eight punchouts tied a season high, but he unfortunately matched up against Bowden Francis who didn't allow a hit until the ninth inning. While he hasn't routinely worked deep into games, the 30-year-old has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of eight starts since being moved into the rotation July 14. On the season, he owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79:37 K:BB across 80.1 innings and lines up to face the Mariners at home next week.

Fulmer (0-4) took the loss Monday at Kansas City, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

After tossing 4.2 shutout innings for a no-decision in his Angels rotation debut July 14, the 30-year-old right-hander has now collected four losses in his last six outings. As a starting pitcher this season, Fulmer sports a 4.78 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB across 28 innings. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Blue Jays in Toronto this weekend.

Fulmer has a 4.22 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 67:32 K:BB through 70.1 innings over 30 appearances this season. He's projected for a road start versus the Royals early next week.

Fulmer was staked to an early 6-0 lead that increased to 8-1 by the middle of the fourth, and he kept New York from drawing close enough to cause major concern. However, the right-hander didn't record any clean frames and allowed multiple hits in three of the four innings in which he took the mound, which drove up his pitch count and resulted in him getting pulled at 90 pitches after four frames. That prevented him from qualifying for the win, which instead went to reliever Hunter Strickland, who followed Fulmer with two scoreless innings. Fulmer has given up three or fewer runs in each of his five outings since moving into the rotation July 14, but he's finished fewer than five frames in three of those starts.

Fulmer did not factor into the decision in an extra-inning loss to the Rockies on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over six innings while striking out eight.

Fulmer stumbled a bit in the second inning when he surrendered a two-run shot to Michael Toglia to put the Angels in an early 2-0 hole. However, the right-hander recovered nicely, holding the Rockies scoreless over the next five innings while generating 19 swings and misses in the contest. Fulmer's eight strikeouts on the night marked a season high, as did his six innings on the mound. The veteran has now allowed three or fewer runs in each of his four starts, posting a 21:7 K:BB over that stretch.

He's at a 3.77 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 55:28 K:BB through 57.1 innings this season. Fulmer last regularly started in 2018 and hasn't exceeded 100 innings since that same year, so it's unclear how much mileage he'll have in a starting role. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Rockies.

Fulmer was clean through two innings, but the Athletics would put up two runs against him in the third on a pair of doubles. He later allowed a solo home run to Miguel Andujar in the fifth, the last batter he would face on the afternoon. Fulmer wasn't nearly as effective as he'd been in his last start, but he managed to reach 77 pitches once again while registering eight swings and misses. The Angels haven't revealed a long-term plan for the veteran right-hander yet, but it's likely he sticks in the rotation for at least another turn, which is expected to come against the Athletics again. Fulmer now sports a 3.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 52:25 K:BB in 51.2 innings.
