Carlos Guillen has announced his retirement. The news comes as a bit of a shock. Guillen agreed to a minor league contract this past winter with the Mariners and had a good chance of claiming a backup infield job this spring in camp. But the Marlins are likely viewing him as a decent high-risk, high-reward option for an infield utility role. The Tigers aren't interested in re-signing him.
