Dozier was traded from the Twins to the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for Logan Forsythe, Luke Raley and Devin Smeltzer, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Given the inclusion of Forsythe in the deal, Dozier clearly slots in as the Dodgers' everyday second baseman over the final two-plus months of the season. Dozier is hitting .224/.305/.402 with 16 home run and eight steals in 462 plate appearances this year. He will be a free agent after the season.

Dozier went 2-for-6 with a home run, five RBI and two runs Sunday in the Twins' 11-7 victory over the Rays.

Dozier heads into the All-Star break in the midst of a power binge, as he's supplied five home runs to go with 17 RBI and 14 runs in 15 July appearances. With the 44-50 Twins unlikely to make a playoff push this season, Dozier could be a popular name in trade discussions leading up to the July 31 non-waiver deadline. The 31-year-old's recent form at the dish should at least enhance the Twins' leverage in negotiations.

Dozier went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

EDGE Analysis

Dozier drove in the game-tying run in the fourth inning on an infield single, then later padded the Minnesota lead with a two-run shot in the sixth. After struggling for much of the first half, the 31-year-old has been getting hot of late. He's homered in three of the last four games, driving in seven runs in that span to give him 15 homers and 42 RBI on the year.

Dozier went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, double and two runs scored Sunday against the Orioles.

Dozier took Ryan Meisinger deep in the sixth inning for his 13th home run of the season. He has had a disappointing season, but has shown signs of coming out of his prolonged slump, recording three doubles and two home runs in his last eight games. Given Dozier's post All-Star break heroics across the last two seasons -- he slugged .646 and .591 respectively -- there is still some hope that he will turn in better results as the season goes on.

Dozier will sit for just the fourth game of the season Tuesday against Milwaukee, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Dozier has not had a vintage Dozier season, but the struggling Twins have stuck with him in an everyday role anyway. His 93 wRC+ is his lowest mark since his rookie season back in 2012, and he's on pace for just 24 homers, his lowest total since 2013. Willians Astudillo will get the start at second base.

Dozier went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two walks and three runs scored in an 11-10 loss to the Cubs on Sunday.

Dozier is still stuck in a pretty rough slump that's lasted most of the 2018 season. After hitting 76 homers with 34 stolen bases and an .871 OPS from 2016-2017, the second baseman has just 12 long balls, five stolen bags and a .708 OPS this year. Dozier hit .181 (17-for-94) in the month of June and is now at .221 on the year with 66 strikeouts.

Dozier got the Twins on the board with his solo blast in the second inning, but that didn't hold up for long in the eventual 8-4 loss. The 31-year-old has had a rough go of things of late, hitting just .190 in June with three homers in the month. On the year he's slashing .221/.301/.398 -- all of which would mark career-lows over the course of a full season.

Dozier went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 6-3 win over Cleveland.

EDGE Analysis

His two-run shot off Corey Kluber in the fourth inning was his first hit in a week and his first extra-base hit since June 3, giving a flicker of hope that Dozier is ready to break out of the 3-for-29 funk he carried into Friday's game. The slump has dropped the 31-year-old's slash line on the season to a disappointing .230/.308/.406, but Dozier has at least maintained decent power numbers on the year, slugging 10 homers with 29 RBI through 65 games.

Dozier is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.

Dozier was held out of the lineup just five days earlier, but that came in the second game of a doubleheader after he went 1-for-3 in the opening contest. The second baseman will now benefit from two full days of rest by sitting out Sunday's contest and taking advantage of Monday's team off day.
