Nicholas went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 8-4 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas was making just his second start behind the plate since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on July 24. The 29-year-old had initially served as the Rangers' third catcher, but the July 30 trade of Jonathan Lucroy to the Rockies will now lock Nicholas in as the primary backup to Robinson Chirinos. Expect Nicholas to pick up one or two starts per week, unless Chirinos' ongoing offensive struggles eventually prompt manager Jeff Banister to roll with a timeshare at catcher.

Nicholas was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers are labeling backup catcher Robinson Chirinos as day-to-day after X-rays on his sprained left ankle came back negative, but Nicholas will still earn his first callup of the season to act as insurance behind the plate. Jonathan Lucroy is slated to handle the bulk of the duties at catcher, so Nicholas won't be in line for more than a start or two a week even if it's determined that Chirinos will require a trip to the disabled list. Nicholas was batting .311/.353/.469 over 293 plate appearances this season at Round Rock.

Nicholas (knee) was activated from the 10-day disabled list on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After undergoing surgery in March for a torn meniscus in his left knee and getting through a success rehab assignment earlier this week, Nicholas is now on the verge of concluding his recovery. He'll look to provide the Rangers with a boost as a backup catcher off the bench.

Nicholas (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas has seemingly recovered from the knee surgery he required in early March, but after being sidelined for much of spring training, he may need multiple weeks worth of games to get his conditioning in order. Once he's activated from the disabled list, Nicholas will likely remain with Round Rock, as Jonathan Lucroy and Robinson Chirinos are the clear top two catchers in the organization.

Nicholas was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas was expected to miss time to start the season after he underwent surgery earlier in March for a torn meniscus in his left knee, so the move was more procedural. He'll serve as organizational depth when he returns.

Nicholas was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas, the backup catcher, was getting regular playing time, making two consecutive starts on Monday and Tuesday and was on a five-game hitting streak. However, with three catchers on the roster, Nicholas was optioned down to give Bobby Wilson a spot.

Nicholas went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in the Rangers' win against the Blue Jays on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas has fared reasonably well in part-time duty in Texas this season. The 27-year-old, in his first Major League season, is hitting .258 with two home runs and four RBI in 31 at-bats this season while splitting time with Brian Holaday behind the plate.

Nicholas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholas made three consecutive starts and collected hits in each of the past two; however, the 27-year-old will get the day off in favor of Bryan Holaday. Nicholas is hitting .240 since being called up in mid-April and is pushing Holaday for the starting role.
