Cubs designated INF/OF Brent Lillibridge for assignment. Lillibridge was 1-for-24 (.042) with no walks and nine strikeouts in nine games with the Cubs. The 29-year-old should draw interest from other teams on waivers.

He should be an active member of Chicago's bench and could have some value in deep NL-only leagues because of his multi-position eligibility.

Brent Lillibridge exacted revenge on the Red Sox on Saturday, going 3-for-3 with a solo homer in the Indians' 5-2 victory. He also doubled, scored twice and drove home two runs. Lillibridge was acquired by the Red Sox in the Kevin Youkilis deal, then subsequently flipped to the Indians after just 16 at-bats with Boston. He was able to punish his former club in this one.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the White Sox player drawing the most trade interest from other teams has been Brent Lillibridge. The Sox were supposed to be one of the most active teams at the Winter Meetings, but the only move they've made to this point has been to trade Sergio Santos. They've put John Danks, Gavin Floyd and Carlos Quentin on the block, but so far nothing has been close to materializing. Lillibridge was a nice utility player for the Sox in 2011 but wouldn't bring back much in a trade.
