Bello (10-5) picked up the win Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk over 6.1 innings against the Royals. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Bello's day started by allowing a leadoff homer by Adam Frazier, but he was quickly staked to a 4-1 lead and only scattered two additional runs the rest of the way while working into the seventh inning for the second time in three starts and just the third time this season. Bello has alternated good and bad outings recently with Sunday representing his third quality start in his last six, then alternately allowing 16 earned runs in the other three while failing to complete five innings twice. Bello places 10th in the majors with 10 wins, however an ERA of 5.32 with a 1.47 WHIP and 85 strikeouts over 89.2 innings represent disappointing figures for the talented 25-year-old righty.

Bello (9-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 12-9 victory over the A's, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out a career-high 11.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's line was looking much better through five innings, but Lawrence Butler helped chase Bello from the game in the sixth with a three-run homer. The 11 strikeouts topped his previous career high of 10, set Sept. 15, 2023 against the Blue Jays. Despite the surge in Ks, Bello has been tagged for four or more runs in five of seven trips to the mound since the beginning of June, stumbling to a 7.00 ERA. 1.89 WHIP and 38:17 K:BB in 36 innings over that stretch. He lines up for one more outing before the All-Star break in a home series against the Royals this weekend.

Bello (8-5) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings in a 7-2 victory over the Marlins. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old right-hander was given a breather by the Red Sox -- his last start came back on June 25, when he lasted only 2.1 innings and surrendered seven runs to the Blue Jays -- and it paid off, as Bello produced his fourth quality start of the season on 91 pitches (61 strikes). The seven Ks were his highest total since May 28, while Wednesday's outing was the first time he hadn't issued multiple free passes since May 17. Bello should resume his regular turn in the rotation after this performance, which lines him up to take the mound at home early next week against the A's.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Bello won't start Sunday's game against the Padres as previously planned and will instead make his next start Wednesday in Miami, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heading into the week, Bello had been lined up for two starts, but the Red Sox are opting to give him more time off before his next turn after he was blasted for seven earned runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays. According to Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald, Cora clarified that Bello isn't dealing with any sort of physical issue, and the right-hander's extra time off between starts is designed to help him better identify the source of the control problems that have become a recurring concern. Bello has issued multiple walks in seven straight starts and in all but one of his last 12 outings.

EDGE Analysis
All seven runs crossed the plate in a disastrous third inning that saw Bello put the first six batters on base before ceding an RBI groundout to former teammate Justin Turner. The right-hander has been tagged for four runs or more in five of his last eight starts, and he carries a bloated 7.49 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 37:20 K:BB through 39.2 innings over that stretch. Bello will try to get back on track in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Padres.
