Brandon Webb has begun throwing on flat ground. Webb's agent told ESPN's Buster Olney that the veteran right-hander's recent throwing sessions have been "free and easy and pain free." Webb is expected to throw for scouts from interested teams at some point soon and will be looking to land an invitation to a major league camp. The 32-year-old former Cy Young Award winner hasn't appeared in a big league game since 2009.

Brandon Webb hasn't given up on returning to MLB. Webb hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2009, and underwent rotator cuff surgery in August. But the 32-year-old right-hander is expected to work out for teams in March and could draw some interest on a non-guaranteed minor league contract.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Brandon Webb (shoulder) began a throwing program in late December and his agent, Jonathan Maurer, said his client's arm feels "strong and loose.'' Webb, who hasn't appeared in a MLB game the last two seasons and appeared in just one in 2009, underwent rotator cuff surgery in August. Someone will likely be willing to offer him a minor league deal, but the odds of the former Cy Young winner ever being an impactful player again are slim.

Brandon Webb underwent rotator cuff surgery Wednesday. There's been some confusion as to whether Webb had a full repair of his rotator cuff or had a less invasive procedure. Either way, the former Cy Young winner's career is in jeopardy. He'll begin his rehab work in six weeks.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Brandon Webb underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Friday. It was suspected that he'd undergo rotator cuff surgery, but it turns out, as Olney said, that he just needs to have the "delaminated part of his rotator cuff sewn together with a PRP injection." We would assume that means his recovery period would be drastically reduced, but he's still no safe bet to ever throw another pitch in a major league game.

Brandon Webb will have rotator cuff surgery on August 1. The surgery was deemed necessary after Webb experienced yet another setback with his shoulder earlier this month. He was already doubtful to make it to the majors this season, but now it's highly likely he'll never make it back at all.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that Brandon Webb is likely done for the season. The Rangers said Wednesday that Webb is currently considering his options, one of which includes rotator cuff surgery. The 32-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in the major leagues since Opening Day of the 2009 season and after numerous failed rehab attempts, it's now very possible he won't ever make it back.

Brandon Webb is scheduled to undergo an MRI Tuesday on his troublesome right shoulder. Webb had yet another setback last week while on a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock and the Rangers want to know if there is any structural damage in the surgically-repaired shoulder. The 32-year-old will not be returning to the major leagues anytime soon.

Brandon Webb (shoulder) admits that he's not sure he'll pitch for the Rangers this season after his latest setback. Webb was scratched from a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock Friday after feeling discomfort while warming up in the bullpen before the game. He was examined by Dr. Keith Meister Saturday, though it's not clear what the result of that exam was or when Webb might return to the mound. "It hurts, so I shut it down," Webb said. "It takes all my velocity, all my life, it takes everything away when it feels like that." The righty also hinted that if he doesn't make it back this season, he might decide to retire. "How many times can you do it?" Webb said. "Who knows? I have no idea."

Brandon Webb will visit Dr. Meister on Saturday for a checkup on his sore right shoulder. Webb was scratched from his rehab outing at Triple-A Round Rock on Friday with renewed shoulder issues. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since Opening Day of 2009 and isn't anywhere close to returning.
