Brandon Phillips went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Brewers. Trailing 3-2 in the eighth inning, Phillips took Brewers reliever Brandon Kintzler deep to center to tie the game. The homer was just his second of the season and first since April 5. He's shown some more pop in recent days, though. Hopefully the homers will follow.

Brandon Phillips was removed from Friday's game against the Cubs due to back spasms. Phillips was injured on a swing in the first inning and eventually was taken out in the third. The Reds are saying his removal was precautionary. Consider Phillips day-to-day for the time being, but he figures to miss at least a game or two.

Brandon Phillips left Friday's game against the Cubs with a possible back injury. Phillips appeared to tweak his lower back on a swing in the first inning. He initially stayed in and even singled on the next pitch he saw, but Ramon Santiago took over for him at second base in the third inning. The Reds should update Phillips' status later Friday.

Brandon Phillips went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Athletics on Tuesday. Phillips brought his Cactus League average up to the Mendoza line and now has five homers on the spring. He has had a rough time in the Cactus League overall, but has been swinging the bat better lately.

Brandon Phillips went 0-for-4 as the Reds fell to the Rockies 3-2 on Wednesday. Phillips is hitting a cold .167 in the Cactus League. He hasn't had a hit since March 7. His offensive numbers have been in freefall since 2011, as his OPS has gone from .810 to .706. Second base bats aren't as scarce as they once were, so Phillips can comfortably be skipped over for cheaper options later in drafts.

Brandon Phillips went 0-for-2 with a walk on Tuesday against the Giants. Phillips recently criticized the media for suggesting he is declining. However, he is coming off of a season in which he slashed .261/.310/.396. After Tuesday's outing, his spring average fell to .200 in 20 Cactus League at-bats. As Phillips himself noted, though, he was hit on the wrist last season, which affected his swing. That said, it's hard to be optimistic about his production at 32 years old.

The Yankees are one of the teams on Brandon Phillips' no-trade list, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. That explains why Phillips was rumored to have asked for more money in any potential deal to the Yankees. Phillips still has four years and $50 million left on his deal, and it's unclear how much more he might ask for to waive the limited no-trade clause. It may be just one of many reasons the Reds end up holding onto the 32-year-old.
