Blue Jays claimed C Bobby Wilson off waivers from the Angels. Wilson is a .208/.272/.321 career hitter in the major leagues. He'll serve as organizational depth for Toronto.

Bobby Wilson went 3-for-4 and hit his first homer since last August in Sunday's defeat of the Rangers. Wilson had gone 124 at-bats without a homer this season before taking Matt Harrison deep in the seventh inning tonight. The big game will help his cause for sticking around once Chris Iannetta returns next month. He entered with an awful .197/.267/.221 line.

Angels activated C Bobby Wilson from the 15-day disabled list. Hank Conger was sent down Sunday in a corresponding roster move. Wilson has been sidelined since suffering a concussion when he was hit in the mask by a foul tip on June 4. The 29-year-old backstop returns to a .171/.232/.171 batting line over 86 plate appearances.

Bobby Wilson (head) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Inland Empire. Wilson should only need a few rehab games. He's been on the 7-day concussion disabled list since June 5.

Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports that the Angels will not look outside the organization at this point to replace Chris Iannetta (wrist). Bobby Wilson is expected to receive the bulk of the playing time while Iannetta is on the shelf for 6-8 weeks following wrist surgery, with John Hester backing him up. Given Wilson's .208/.271/.331 career batting line, he doesn't inspire much confidence. We wouldn't be surprised if the Halos change their mind and look for help elsewhere eventually. Then again, Mike Scioscia put up with Jeff Mathis' lackluster hitting for years, so maybe not.
