A day after Parker gave up two runs on three hits, including a home run, in just one inning to raise his spring ERA to 9.00, the Cubs decided to include him in Thursday's round of cuts from major league camp. Although he struggled last year, Parker had a 2.72 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 49 appearances in 2013 and figures to get another opportunity in the first half of the season.

Parker started Tuesday's Cactus League game and gave up two runs and three hits - including a home run - in one inning. Parker started the game under strange circumstances, as scheduled starter Edwin Jackson was late when he got lost on the way to the park. Parker has given up six runs and nine hits in six innings this spring. Though he could see some time in the Cubs' bullpen this year, he'll likely be headed to Triple-A Iowa in the next week or so.
