McKinney missed the team's last spring training game after coming down with the flu, the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like the bug might be making its way around the team, as pitcher Luis Cessa was also scratched with the flu. McKinney was part of the return from the Cubs when the Yankees dealt Aroldis Chapman to the North Side last July, and the 22-year-old is expected to begin the year back with the Double-A squad.

McKinney received an invite to spring training as a non-roster invitee on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
McKinney spent the second half of his 2016 season with Double-A Tennessee, slashing .234/.310/.375 over 143 plate appearances after being traded from the Cubs to the Yankees. Despite his spring training invite, the 22-year-old is expected to open the season in Double-A again.

McKinney was traded to the Yankees as part of the deal that sent Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs, MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
McKinney, who was traded to the Cubs back in 2014, will head to New York along with Gleyber Torres, Adam Warren and one other player. The 21-year-old outfielder has spent all of 2016 with Double-A Tennessee, posting a .252/.355/.322 slash line with only one home run and 31 RBI in 88 games. McKinney will most likely head to Double-A Trenton.

McKinney went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI for Double-A Tennessee on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
McKinney got off to a rough start this year, but he's been heating up in June, slashing .292/.393/.389 for the month. Though he's a good hitter, his lack of power or speed will limit his fantasy ceiling. He has just one home run and one stolen base in 67 games for the Smokies this year.

McKinney, 20, is batting .253/.298/.389 with one home run and 11 RBI through 28 games since being promoted to Double-A. McKinney has been cold of late, hitting just .167 over his last 10 games. McKinney is one of the youngest players at this level, though, so it could take a little while for him to get going.

McKinney is hitting .282/.333/.385 with four doubles and zero homers in 12 games since arriving at Double-A Tennessee. The 20-year-old corner outfielder was clearly too advanced for High-A pitching, but he has struggled to hit for power initially at Double-A. That is to be expected, however, and given McKinney's age, it is impressive that he is just holding his own at the plate in 39 at-bats with the Smokies. He has emerged as a prospect that warrants consideration in all dynasty formats, as he could offer a plus hit tool and plus power at the major league level at some point next season.

McKinney was promoted to Double-A Tennessee. McKinney was hitting .340/.432/.544 for Low-A Myrtle Beach in 29 games before the promotion. The 2013 first-round draft pick has the potential to be a star if he can keep this up in Double-A.
