Burns went 2-for-3 with a walk, a pair of runs scored and two steals Tuesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Burns had been kept out of the lineup for three straight games coming into this one in favor of Coco Crisp, but he made his case for more playing time loud and clear with this performance. The speedy switch-hitter will have to earn a consistent spot in a crowded Oakland outfield , but his 26 steals last season show that he can wreak havoc on the basepaths when given the opportunity.

Burns is back in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
The switch hitter sat out of three straight games while Coco Crisp was playing well, but Burns will slot back into the leadoff spot with the left-handed Hector Santiago on the mound. Burns should continue being the main center fielder for the A's going forward unless Coco Crisp complicates things by keeping up his small hot streak.

Burns is not in the lineup Monday for the third straight game.
EDGE Analysis
Burns recorded five hits, albeit no extra-base hits, in his first four games of the season, so it's not exactly clear why he is seeing an extended run on the bench. One way or another, Coco Crisp will get another start in center field Monday for the A's, and Burns will again be limited to pinch-hit duty at best.

Burns remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the second consecutive game, Burns will give way to Coco Crisp, who went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Saturday's contest. Manager Bob Melvin may just be rewarding Crisp for Saturday's performance with another start, so it doesn't seem as though Burns' standing as the top center fielder on the depth chart is subject to change. The speedy leadoff man is batting .294 over 17 at-bats to begin the campaign.

Burns is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Coco Crisp gets the start in center field Saturday and will lead it off for the A's against right-hander Nate Karns. Burns had led off the previous three games, going 4-for-13 with a steal and no strikeouts. Look for Burns to draw back into the lineup for Sunday's series finale against Seattle's ace, Felix Hernandez.

Burns will lead off and start in center field on Wednesday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
After getting Tuesday off in favor of Coco Crisp, Burns draws back into the lineup in the leadoff spot on Wednesday against the lefthanded Carlos Rodon. Burns hit for a .315/.356/.412 slash line against lefties last season and is a good platoon option there.

Burns is not in the lineup Tuesday against the White Sox, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Burns drew the start against lefty Chris Sale on Opening Day -- and hit .315 against southpaws last season -- but he'll take a seat for the second game of the year against the left-handed Jose Quintana. Coco Crisp will take over in center field and bat in the leadoff spot in his stead.

Burns is working with Rickey Henderson in camp to try and improve his base stealing technique heading into 2016.
EDGE Analysis
Burns has a ton of pure speed (MLB Network clocked him as the fastest home to first in 2015), but seemed to lose some confidence swiping bags in the second half after a few caught stealings. He racked up 26 steals in 2015, but with multiple 50 plus stolen base seasons in the minors, it is clear that there are more steals to be had for Burns if he can continue to get on base. Henderson noted that Burns needed to work on his takeoff and with some improvement there, he could be "untouchable" on the basepaths.

Burns is out of the lineup for the season finale Sunday against the Mariners
EDGE Analysis
Burns continues to serve as the A's everyday center field, but he will take off the season finale Sunday. Craig Gentry will instead replace him in center field, batting eighth for the Athletics.

Burns is out of the lineup on Wednesday, reports Joe Stiglich of CSN California.
EDGE Analysis
With the expanded rosters and the A's long out of contention, this appears to just be a day off for Burns. 2015 has been a fantastic rookie season for Burns as he sits at .295 through 509 at-bats with 26 steals. The stolen bases have slowed down with only one in September, but he appears to be locked into the center field job to start next season for the A's and should be a solid source of steals in 2016.
