Lively is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Yankees at Great American Ball Park, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
After receiving a call-up from Triple-A Louisville last week, Lively ended up making his 2023 big-league debut as a bulk reliever behind opener Derek Law. He ultimately picked up a win May 11 against the Mets while working three scoreless innings behind Law that day, but Lively took the loss in Monday's series opener in Colorado after covering 2.1 innings in a traditional relief role. Given that he'll be returning to the hill Friday on three days' rest, Lively could be on somewhat of a limited pitch count in the start.

Lively (1-0) was credited with the win against the Mets on Thursday, allowing four hits and striking out one batter over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
Derek Law drew the start for the Reds and went 1.1 frames. Cincinnati put up four runs in the bottom of the first, and Lively was credited with the victory as a result of following Law and keeping New York off the scoreboard over his three innings. This was Lively's first major-league win since 2017 and his first big-league appearance since 2019. The right-hander looks to be in line to fill the void left when Luis Cessa was designated for assignment Tuesday, though it's not yet clear if Lively will be working entirely as a bulk reliever or if he may see traditional starts.

Reds manager David Bell said Lively will handle a "significant amount" of innings in Thursday's series finale against the Mets, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lively might not get a traditional start, but he'll at least serve as the bulk reliever. The 31-year-old right-hander was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday after the Reds designated Luis Cessa for assignment and looks to be set up for an extended run in a sort of rotation or swingman role. Lively had posted a 2.33 ERA across 27 innings this season at Triple-A, though there isn't much swing-and-miss in his arsenal.

Lively has his contract selected from Triple-A Louisville by the Reds on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lively will join the big-league roster after being assigned to the minors in early March. The right-hander has produced an impressive 2.33 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 27 innings in five appearances, including four starts, with Louisville in 2023. With Luis Cessa being designated for assignment Tuesday, Lively could step right in Cincinnati's starting rotation.

Lively was one of seven non-roster players reassigned to the Reds' minor-league camp Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joining Lively were Andrew Abbott, Connor Phillips, Alan Busenitz, Alex McGarry, Jhonny Pereda and Allan Cerda. Lively spent all of last year at Triple-A Louisville, posting a 4.09 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 77 innings there.

Lively (elbow) returned from Triple-A Louisville's 7-day injured list Tuesday and gave up four earned runs on three hits and one walk while recording two outs.
EDGE Analysis
Lively was back in action for Louisville for the first time since the second half of June after missing more than two months with a strained elbow. The 30-year-old right-hander turned in a 3.77 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 62 innings over 13 starts prior to landing on the IL, but the time Lively missed could hurt his chances of earning a late-season call-up to Cincinnati.

Triple-A Louisville placed Lively on its 7-day injured list Thursday with a right flexor strain, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Lively isn't on the Reds' 40-man roster, he had put himself in the conversation for a potential call-up after turning in a 3.77 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 73:26 K:BB across 62 innings. Given the nature of his injury, Lively will likely be sidelined beyond the minimum seven days and shouldn't be expected to surface in the big leagues at any point in the near future.

Lively was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lively was merely in camp as a non-roster invitee but reportedly had a chance to win at least a temporary rotation spot, with both Luis Castillo and Mike Minor expected to miss the start of the season with shoulder injuries. He's no longer in the competition, which isn't too much of a surprise given that he spent the last three seasons producing a merely decent 4.14 ERA in the KBO.

Lively has a chance to win a spot in the Reds rotation, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Because Lively came back from the KBO and wasn't on the Reds 40-man roster, he reported to camp in February and is ahead of other competitors for the spot. He began his professional career in the Reds' organization before having stops in Philadelphia, Kansas City and Arizona.

EDGE Analysis
Lively's deal with Cincinnati includes an invitation to major-league spring training this year. The right-hander has spent the last three seasons in the KBO, and he posted a 4.14 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 202.1 innings across 36 starts with the Samsung Lions.
