Rendon was scratched from Friday's intrasquad matchup with oblique tightness.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon was healthy over the start of camp while preparing for his first season in Los Angeles, but he's considered day-to-day after being scratched from Friday's intrasquad lineup with oblique tightness. The team should gain a better idea over the coming days as to whether the injury will impact Rendon's availability for Opening Day on July 24.

Rendon went 1-for-1 with a three-run home run in Sunday's Cactus League contest against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon took Ross Detwiler deep in the first inning for his first homer in an Angels uniform. He was also hit by a pitch in the third inning and exited the game in the fourth after feeling soreness in his left hamstring, though Rendon indicated the soreness was merely a result of being struck by the pitch. He's scheduled for an off day Monday and should return to the lineup shortly thereafter.

Rendon (personal) is expected to return to Angels camp on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon flew back to his home state of Texas on Wednesday to be with his wife, who is set to give birth to the couple's second child. After taking a few days off to spend time with his expanding family, Rendon will return to Arizona to resume preparations for his first season with the Angels. Expect him to make his team and Cactus League debut at some point next week.

Rendon is expected to leave camp "for a few days" to be with his wife when she gives birth to the couple's second child, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The absence clearly won't affect Rendon's standing with the team or readiness for the regular season. The 29-year-old is expected to add a significant boost to the Angels' lineup after signing a seven-year, $245 million contract with the team in December.

Rendon signed a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Angels on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old is fresh off a World Series victory with the Nationals and is now set to receive $35 million per year from the Angels. Rendon finished third in National League MVP voting behind Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich in 2019, as he put forth the best numbers of his career with a .319/.412/.598 slash line, 44 doubles, 34 home runs and 126 RBI in 146 games. Rendon will take over at the hot corner for the Halos in Joe Maddon's first season as the club's manager.

Rendon rejected a qualifying offer from the Nationals on Thursday, making him a free agent, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The finalist for the National League MVP will likely receive much more than the one-year, $17.8 million price tag associated with the qualifying offer, so it isn't surprising to see Rendon enter free agency. The Nationals will receive draft-pick compensation if Rendon signs elsewhere, but the market for the 29-year-old should still be appealing.

Rendon received a qualifying offer from Washington on Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon is due to make far more than the one-year, $17.8 million that the qualifying offer entails. The team who signs him will now have to give up a draft pick, with the Nationals set to receive draft-pick compensation, though that won't dull the star third baseman's market by a meaningful amount.

Rendon went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBI in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Astros in Game 6 of the World Series.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon's two-run blast in the seventh inning gave the Nationals a 5-2 lead and provided some much-needed breathing room after a controversial call two batters earlier had cost them an additional baserunner. Rendon also had an RBI single in the first inning and a two-run double in the ninth. The homer was Rendon's first of the World Series, but he's been marvelous in the postseason overall, slashing .339/.429/.571 in 56 at-bats.

Rendon went 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored in Wednesday's 7-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLDS.
EDGE Analysis
Rendon blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning off of Clayton Kershaw to pull the Nationals to within 3-2 and Juan Soto followed with a solo homer of his own to tie the game. Rendon also doubled off LA starter Walker Buehler in the sixth and again off reliever Joe Kelly in the 10th. What an incredible 2019 for Rendon. The impending free agent slashed .319/.412/.598 with a career-high 34 homers and a league-leading 126 RBI during the regular season, and has followed that up by slashing .350/.423/.650 in six postseason games. The Cardinals will have their work cut out for them trying to quiet Rendon's bat in the NLCS.

Rendon is not in Sunday's lineup against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals have secured home-field advantage for Tuesday's Wild Card Game, so it makes sense that they would give their best position player a breather on the final day of the season. Wilmer Difo is starting at third base and hitting eighth.
