This isn't entirely surprising, as the 33-year-old dropped to third in the pecking order of catchers after the Braves acquired Kurt Suzuki in the offseason. Recker is just a .200/.284/.350 career hitter, and will serve as organizational depth in 2017.

Recker agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Braves on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Recker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the seventh inning off Mets starter Bartolo Colon, sparking a comeback for a 4-3 win.
