Kay was promoted for his big-league debut to start Saturday against the Rays, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kay came over from the Mets in late July as part of the return for Marcus Stroman. He posted a 2.50 ERA in seven starts at Triple-A Buffalo since the trade, though his 4.54 FIP and 13.8 percent walk rate aren't particularly encouraging.

Kay will start Saturday against the Rays, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports had indicated Kay would pitch Saturday, but it wasn't clear until now that Kay would be a proper starter rather than a bulk reliever. The 24-year-old lefty struggled to a 6.61 ERA in seven starts for Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets' system before posting a much stronger 2.50 ERA in another seven starts for Triple-A Buffalo after joining the Blue Jays' organization in the Marcus Stroman trade.

Kay will make his big-league debut Saturday against the Rays, but it's possible he will follow an opener, Ben Wagner of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will either work as a true starter or follow Wilmer Font. From a fantasy standpoint, following Font probably gives Kay a better chance of qualifying for a win, although Font has given up runs in three of his last six appearances, and it obviously wouldn't be ideal for Kay to enter the game in a deficit. Kay has a 2.50 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 39:22 K:BB in 36 innings (seven starts) since getting traded to the Blue Jays in the Marcus Stroman trade.

Kay will make his big-league debut this weekend in Tampa Bay, pitching as either a starter or as a primary pitcher following an opener, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
One of two notable pitching prospects the Blue Jays received in the deadline deal that sent Marcus Stroman to the Mets, Kay has pedigree (first-round pick in 2016) and is a southpaw, but he is likely to be more of a No. 4 or No. 5 starter in the big leagues. Since the trade, he has logged a 2.50 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 39:22 K:BB in 36 innings with Triple-A Buffalo. He could stick in the rotation over the rest of the season.

Kay allowed one unearned run on one hit and five walks over six innings while striking out eight for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old southpaw is still fighting his control since being part of the Marcus Stroman trade -- he's issued 11 free passes in 15.2 innings over his first three starts for Buffalo -- but Kay flashed his upside in this one, with the eight whiffs being the most he's racked up since he struck out nine batters in his final Double-A outing June 8. If Kay can build on this performance down the stretch, he could head into next spring with a shot at winning a rotation spot for Toronto.

Kay is not viewed as an option to fill in for Noah Syndergaard (hamstring) in the Mets' rotation, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets' top pitching prospect just got a promotion to Triple-A Syracuse. While he did give up five runs in four innings against Gwinnett on Friday in his first look at International League hitters, Kay's 6:1 K:BB suggests he wasn't overmatched. Syndergaard isn't expected to be out for long, though, and the Mets have no incentive to rush Kay to the majors in what is looking like a lost season.

Kay was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kay will get his first taste of Triple-A after dominating across 12 starts for Double-A Binghamton, posting a 1.49 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 70:23 K:BB in 66.1 innings of work. The 24-year-old southpaw still isn't on New York's 40-man roster, so he figures to finish out the season with Syracuse unless he really kicks the door down.

Kay was perfect through five innings for Double-A Binghamton on Monday, finishing the night allowing only one walk through seven scoreless, no-hit innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw has given up one run or fewer in eight of his nine outings for the Rumble Ponies this season, but Monday's gem was his best effort yet. Kay's 1.07 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 52:17 K:BB through 50.2 innings make a compelling case for a promotion, but his next stop may not end up being at Triple-A -- Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Monday that the club had at least considered promoting the 24-year-old to the majors to fill the team's fifth starter spot, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Kay tossed a seven-inning shutout for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old has dazzled to start the season, giving up one run or less in seven of his eight starts so far. Kay is now second in the Eastern League in ERA (1.24), third in WHIP (0.87), and sixth in strikeouts (45). Given his age, a promotion to Triple-A could be on the horizon for the Mets' No. 4 fantasy prospect.

Kay allowed one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings while striking out 10 for Double-A Binghamton on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets' No. 8 fantasy prospect has been sharp to begin the year, holding the opposition off the scoreboard entirely in three of his four outings and posting a 1.89 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB through 19 innings. Kay underwent Tommy john surgery in 2016 after being drafted in the first round that summer and had only 122.2 pro innings under his belt coming into this season, so while the 24-year-old left-hander would usually be considered old for his current level, the club isn't likely to be too aggressive with his workload or promotions. A strong campaign could put him firmly in the Mets' 2020 rotation plans, however.
