Vaughn received an invitation to major-league camp Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Vaughn is still just 22 years old and has a mere 55 professional games under his belt, but he's an advanced hitter whose big-league debut may not be far off. Under ordinary circumstances, he probably would have spent last year in the upper minors and could have even pushed for a callup with some strong performances, but the canceled minor-league season robbed him of that opportunity. While he may not be given serious consideration for an Opening Day spot, he could be with the team fairly early in the season if he looks good in camp and in the minors.

Vaughn is a viable option at designated hitter in 2021, according to general manager Rick Hahn, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chicago's top prospect and a top-10 fantasy prospect in the game, Vaughn spent the summer impressing White Sox brass at the alternate training site. He has an excellent command of the strike zone and connects with plus power to all fields. Considering he has never played at Double-A or Triple-A, Vaughn shouldn't be expected to win a job in spring training, but he could be assigned to Triple-A with a chance for a first-half call-up.

Vaughn worked out extensively at third base Wednesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vaughn, the White Sox's first-round pick (third overall) in 2020, is viewed as the first baseman of the future, but the White Sox feel he can handle the additional position. "There are several of us that believe he's capable of moving around. He's got really good feet, his exchange is very good, got a very good arm. He has all the makings of being able to play that position," said manager Rick Renteria. With Yoan Moncada (undisclosed) not working out with the team, there are available reps at third base for Vaughn, although he is not expected to open the season on the 30-man game roster.

The White Sox announced Monday that Vaughn will be included as part of the team's 60-man roster pool.
EDGE Analysis
With the 2020 minor-league season expected to be cancelled, Vaughn, one of the White Sox's top prospects, will join the big club for its summer training camp that begins Friday. Though Vaughn will be available to play during Chicago's 60-game regular-season slate, he'll most likely see most of his reps in simulated games while Jose Abreu and Edwin Encarnacion handle regular duties at first base and designated hitter for the big club. After being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 first-year player draft, Vaughn appeared in 55 games between three different affiliates in his first pro campaign, slashing .278/.384/.449 with six home runs and 17 doubles.

Vaughn batted .304/.448/.522 with three extra-base hits and five RBI over 23 spring at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
Vaughn showed off his advanced bat and plate discipline during the Cactus League. The 21-year-old first baseman projects to hit for average and power while working counts and getting on base at healthy clips. Jose Abreu at first base and Edwin Encarnacion at DH are blocking Vaughn in 2020, but Chicago's first-round pick in the 2019 draft could be around in September and the postseason, should the White Sox qualify. A 2021 placement in Chicago seems likely.

Vaughn was invited to the White Sox's big-league camp, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vaughn finished his first season with High-A Winston-Salem with a .252/.349/.411 slash line to go along with three home runs and 21 RBI. The White Sox first-round pick (third overall) in the 2019 draft has shown great plate discipline in addition to having a powerful bat, as the first baseman recorded a 30:35 BB:K in 229 plate appearances for Low-A Kannapolis and High-A Winston-Salem. The highly rated prospect likely needs some more minor-league experience before he's ready to push for a big-league roster spot.

Vaughn was promoted to High-A Winston-Salem on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It is not surprising to see Vaughn climb through three levels of the minors this quickly, although he is not the first player from the 2019 draft class to get to High-A -- Marlins prospect JJ Bleday began his pro career in the Florida State League. Vaughn hit .253/.388/.410 with two home runs and an 18:14 K:BB in 103 plate appearances at Low-A. He hasn't hit for quite as much power as expected early on against pro pitching, and High-A will provide a pretty fair test for the 21-year-old first baseman.

Vaughn went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run for the AZL White Sox on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Vaughn, the White Sox's first-round pick (third overall) in the 2019 draft, showcased why he was deemed worthy of being selected that high. He profiles has an elite hitter with power and is good enough defensively to stick as a first baseman.
