Toles went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Not known for his power, Toles took advantage of a hitter-friendly venue (Coors Field) and used Jon Gray's velocity against him to leave the yard for the first time this year. While he isn't expected to hit a bunch of home runs or be a speedster on the basepaths (three homers and one steal in 115 plate appearances last season), the 24-year-old brings value with his contact skills and ability to get on base in front of the Dodgers' sluggers. Andre Ethier's (back) eventual return could create a playing time issue in left field, but until that happens, Toles should continue to lead off against righties.

Toles is not in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Los Angeles facing a left-hander (Colorado's Kyle Freeland), Toles moves to the pine, as will be the case in most of these situations. He'll yield to bottom-side platoon specialist Franklin Gutierrez in those spots, and the Dodgers face three lefties over their next four games, so Toles may sit in those, as well.

Toles is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
His absence against an opposing lefty starter (Clayton Richard) comes as no surprise, as the expectation was always that Toles and Franklin Gutierrez would platoon in left field to open the year. Toles led off against right-hander Jhoulys Chacin on Opening Day, going 2-for-5 with a run scored. He figures to stick in the top spot in the order against righties for the time being with Logan Forsythe in the five-hole.

Toles will start in left field and bat leadoff against the Padres on Opening Day, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Dave Roberts hinted over the weekend that he could have Toles leading off and Logan Forsythe in the five-hole against right-handed pitching early on, and that is indeed the case against Jhoulys Chacin. Toles figures to sit against lefties, but if he's able to maintain a regular spot atop the order against righties, it would be big for his fantasy value. The 24-year-old posted an .870 OPS in 48 games with the Dodgers last year, and while he didn't run much in that stint with the big-league club, he did steal 23 bases in the minors last season (82 games).

Toles is in the running to bat leadoff for the Dodgers on Opening Day, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Apparently, manager Dave Roberts was still trying to decide between Toles and Logan Forsythe for the top spot in the order as of Sunday. Forsythe led off against right-handers throughout most of the spring, but Toles was atop the order for Saturday's exhibition -- the first game all spring in which the Dodgers had their primary eight position players on the field.

Toles is in position to be a left-handed platoon partner in left field along with the right-handed Franklin Gutierrez, Bill Plunkett of the Orange Country Register reports. The 24-year-old went 2-for-4 with a grand slam Saturday against Oakland, raising his spring average to .348.
EDGE Analysis
With Andre Either (back) expected to miss an undetermined amount of time early in the season, Toles is the lone left-handed outfielder remaining. Trayce Thompson and Scott Van Slyke might also be used in left field, per manager Dave Roberts, but he's not ready to make any decisions. One thing is certain, Roberts has made it clear that he doesn't want Gutierrez facing right-handed pitchers, so there's some at-bats available.

With Andre Ethier (back) being shut down for 7-10 days, Toles has little standing between him and regular playing time to begin the regular season.
EDGE Analysis
Toles continued his solid spring Monday, going 1-for-3 in a loss to the Indians and bringing his Cactus League batting average up to .286 in 35 at-bats. Ethier's presence in camp presented a potential roadblock to regular playing time for the young outfielder, but with the former's availability for Opening Day in question, Toles becomes the leading candidate to see regular playing time against right-handers in left field. The 24-year-old doesn't possess much power (never hit more than seven home runs at any minor league level), but he could be a sneaky source of steals (123 steals across four minor league seasons) without hurting fantasy team's batting averages.

Toles went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a trio of runs scored in Wednesday's spring training win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Toles returned from a minor knee injury this past weekend, and Wednesday's performance is a good indication that he is back up to full speed. The 24-year-old is currently the front-runner for regular playing time in left field after breaking out in 2016 (.314/.365/.505). The job isn't his yet, as Andre Ethier remains in the mix as a left-handed bat who can start in left field. If Toles does win the job out of camp, he would likely platoon with one of the lefty mashers the Dodgers have available off the bench after batting .213 (3-for-13) against southpaws last year.

Toles (knee) is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Angels, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is not in the starting lineup, but it sounds like he will get into Saturday's game after missing time with a slight knee hyperextension. Toles needs to hit the ground running this spring to solidify the everyday job in left field.

Toles has missed the last four games with a slight knee hyperextension, but is expected to return to action later this week, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
Now we know why Toles has been absent from the last several exhibition games. The fact that he is expected to be back this week is encouraging, as this is an important spring for him to establish a firm hold on the strong side of a left field platoon.
