McCutchen was removed from Wednesday's game against the Padres with an apparent injury.
EDGE Analysis
The reason for McCutchen's removal remains unclear at the moment, but he was hit on the elbow with a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning. While he was originally able to stay in the game for the next inning, the veteran outfielder was replaced by Gregor Blanco prior to the fourth inning. Consider him day-to-day for now.

McCutchen is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen has had some tough times at the plate lately. Over the last seven games he's gone 3-for-18 (.167) and struck out seven times. However, despite his struggles he's managed to get on base frequently, as he's drawn nine walks in that time. Austin Slater will start in right field and hit seventh with McCutchen out.

McCutchen went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run to help the Giants to an 8-1 victory over the Angels on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a slow start for the first-year Giant, who is still slashing just .213/.280/.373 despite getting his third long ball of the year. McCutchen has shown a propensity for bouncing back after rough starts in the past, so it's still too early to be reading too much into the early season struggles for a hitter who has a .290 average and an .863 OPS over the last decade and ended up slashing .279/.363/.486 after a similarly slow start last year.

McCutchen went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks Saturday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen managed to hit his second home run of the season in the fifth inning off left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard on Saturday. He has gotten off to a slow start with his new club, now slugging just .357 for the season. He had a similarly slow start last season, and rebounded to produce valuable numbers in June and July so it isn't time to panic yet.

McCutchen filled up the box score Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with two walks, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in a walkoff win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen's gap shot with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the crowd in San Francisco home happy. It was the outfielder's second walkoff hit over the club's last four contests. The 31-year-old got off to a rough 2-for-24 start with his new club, but he has turned things around with a homer, six RBI and a pair of steals while batting .444 (8-for-18) over the last four games.

McCutchen went 6-for-7 with a stolen base, one home run, four RBI, and two runs scored Saturday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen had just two hits entering Saturday's game, but he produced across the board against the Dodgers including a walk-off three-run home run. He was also successful on his first stolen base attempt of the season. McCutchen has started slowly in seasons past, and though he's no longer a first-round producer, he should improve from his sluggish start as the season wears on.

McCutchen has hit third for the Giants while starting in right field for each of the team's first five games to begin the season.
EDGE Analysis
He put together a .341/.431/.477 line with a homer and seven RBI during spring training, but has started the season with a quiet 2-for-20 start. Despite the addition of McCutchen and Evan Longoria this offseason, the Giants have opened the season in a five-game scoring slump, with just six runs on the ledger thus far.

McCutchen has gone 5-for-13 (.385) for the Giants this spring.
EDGE Analysis
One of the Giants' prized offseason acquisitions has gotten off to solid start with his new club. McCutchen still hasn't delivered an extra-base hit, but the key for the veteran outfielder is that he is healthy and he has his timing down early in camp. The move to AT&T Park is never a positive for a hitter, but the 31-year-old managed to club 28 home runs while playing home games at PNC Park last season, which ranked in the bottom third in terms of park factors for long balls in 2017. The days of McCutchen being a 20/20 threat are in the rear-view mirror, but the right fielder should be able to reach the 20-homer mark with a solid batting average and healthy counting stats while batting in the middle of San Francisco's revamped lineup.

McCutchen, who was acquired by the Giants on Monday via trade, was told he'll play a corner outfield spot for his new club in 2018, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
While McCutchen has primarily played center field throughout his professional career, the 31-year-old isn't completely unfamiliar with right field as he spent the first 13 games of the 2017 campaign there before a suspension to Starling Marte allowed him to shift back to center. With McCutchen expected to occupy a corner outfield spot, the Giants could bring in a potential center fielder or turn to prospect Steven Duggar.

McCutchen was traded to the Giants on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear what the Pirates are receiving in return at this point, but the deal is all but done, pending an exchange of medical information. McCutchen bounced back last season after his lackluster 2016 campaign, hitting .279/.363/.486 with 28 homers and 11 stolen bases across 156 games. While the 31-year-old likely won't return to his MVP form, he proved he still has something left in the tank and figures to play an important role for the Giants next season.
