McCutchen (knee) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen had to be scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs due to lingering left knee soreness, which is the same injury he just returned from last week. He'll miss a second straight start Thursday and is considered day-to-day. Bryan Reynolds will shift into the designated hitter spot for the Pirates while Billy McKinney handles left field.

Pirates manager Derek Shelton said McCutchen was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Cubs due to the veteran's knee being "a little cranky," Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old was activated from the injured list late last week after missing some time due to knee inflammation, and the injury is apparently still a bit bothersome. Shelton indicated McCutchen will be available off the bench, so it doesn't appear to be a significant issue.

McCutchen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen will get some routine maintenance for Sunday's matinee game after he served as the Pirates' designated hitter in both of the team's first two games in Cleveland upon being activated from the injured list. The 37-year-old showed no sign of being troubled by the knee issue that forced him to the IL on Aug. 17, as he went 3-for-8 with a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI and two runs in his first two games back in the lineup.

McCutchen went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-8 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The former MVP was the designated hitter and batted cleanup in his first action since Aug. 16 due to left knee inflammation. He tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth when he laced a two-RBI double off Ben Lively. However, McCutchen wasn't done yet, cracking a 369-foot solo shot off Emmanuel Clase -- only the second homer the Cleveland closer has allowed all season -- in the ninth inning. Overall, the 37-year-old is now slashing .238/.337/.415 with 17 homers, 61 runs scored and 43 RBI in 442 plate appearances across 102 games.
