McCutchen has been sidelined the past two weeks after testing positive for the virus, but he'll rejoin Milwaukee's active roster ahead of Friday's matchup with Washington. McCutchen (illness) won't be activated from the COVID-19 injured list for Wednesday's series finale versus Atlanta, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder was scheduled for a full workout Tuesday, and the team apparently wants to give him a couple more days to keep ramping up before rejoining the active roster. McCutchen is now expected to be activated for Friday's series opener against the Nationals.

Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns said McCutchen (illness) will "probably" be activated from the COVID-19-related injured list ahead of Wednesday's series finale with Atlanta or Friday's series opener with Washington, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whether the Brewers choose to bring McCutchen back Wednesday or following Thursday's team off day will hinge on how he fares from a conditioning standpoint during his full workout Tuesday. While McCutchen has been on the shelf for the past week and a half, the Brewers have mostly rotated Rowdy Tellez and Christian Yelich at designated hitter, which has opened up more opportunities for Jace Peterson and Tyrone Taylor.

McCutchen is expected to get back up to speed quickly once he's activated from the COVID-19 injured list, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen has been on the IL since May 7, but manager Craig Counsell expects him to be back in action for the Brewers shortly after he's cleared to return. "It'll be a quick ramp-up," said Counsell. "This is not a long process for him to get back ready but we have to get him back in the building." The former MVP was hitting .240 with two homers, 14 RBI, three stolen bases and 11 runs scored through 25 games prior to landing on the injured list.

McCutchen was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
While it's not yet clear whether McCutchen has tested positive for COVID-19, he'll need to isolate from the team until he clears the league's protocols. Mike Brosseau was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to provide additional depth, while Tyrone Taylor should see an uptick in playing time with McCutchen sidelined.

McCutchen went 4-for-5 with a double, four RBI and two runs in the 18-4 win over the Reds on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
McCutchen ripped an RBI single off Vladimir Gutierrez in the bottom of the first inning before adding another single in the third frame and coming around to score on a Rowdy Tellez grand slam. The 35-year-old later walked and scored on Tellez's second long ball of the contest in the sixth and doubled in two runs in the seventh. He notched his fourth hit on an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Lorenzo Cain and reaching four RBI on the day. McCutchen has operated as the Brewers' primary designated hitter in 2022, producing a .242 batting average with two homers and 14 RBI over 95 at-bats in 24 games.

McCutchen went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
He launched his second homer of the season -- and second in as many games -- in the third inning off Kyle Hendricks, one of six Milwaukee long balls on the night. McCutchen hasn't been able to really get hot yet for the Brewers, but he's consistently hitting cleanup against RHP and leadoff against LHP, and his mediocre .247/.302/.377 slash line has still led to three steals, seven runs and 10 RBI.
