Knapp elected free agency Friday after being outrighted by the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp stuck around with the Phillies for five seasons as the primary backup catcher, but he is coming off the worst season of his career. He slashed .152/.215/.214 with two home runs and -1.1 fWAR in 62 games.

Knapp (illness) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp has been out since testing positive for coronavirus in late August. The Phillies haven't indicated exactly how many rehab games he'll need to play, but he should be able to return before the end of the week, assuming he doesn't need too many games to get back into game shape.

Knapp tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and will have to complete a quarantine of at least 10 days before he's eligible to rejoin the Phillies, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp was one of three players placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, with utility man Luke Williams and starting pitcher Zach Eflin joining him. According to Salisbury, all three players are fully vaccinated and weren't subject to testing unless they felt ill, an indication that Knapp, Williams and Eflin are all experiencing symptoms on some level. Rafael Marchan was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to Friday's game against the Diamondbacks and will serve as the No. 2 catcher behind J.T. Realmuto while Knapp is out.

Knapp was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp was initially slated to start Friday's game against Arizona, but he was one of three Phillies who landed on the COVID-19 injured list. It's not yet clear when the 29-year-old will be able to return, but Rafael Marchan was called up to serve as depth at catcher behind J.T. Realmuto.

Knapp was reinstated from the paternity list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old had been away from the team since Thursday, but he'll now slot back in as the primary backup behind J.T. Realmuto. Since the All-Star break, Knapp has gone 0-for-9 with three strikeouts across five appearances.

The Phillies placed Knapp on the paternity list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Philadelphia summoned Rafael Marchan from Double-A Reading in a corresponding move, and he'll presumably start at catcher in one half of Thursday's doubleheader with the Nationals. Since J.T. Realmuto returned from the injured list in late May, playing time has been predictably scarce for Knapp, who has made only eight starts over the past two months.

Knapp went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 13-3 win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp got Philadelphia on the board with his third-inning solo shot. The backup catcher continues to see little playing time. He's slashing just .179/.233/.263 with two homers, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and a pair of doubles through 103 plate appearances. J.T. Realmuto will continue to handle the bulk of the work behind the dish.

Knapp (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp entered the concussion protocol last weekend, but he'll be reinstated following a minimal stay on the injured list. The 29-year-old should serve as the backup catcher after Rafael Marchan was sent down as part of a corresponding move.

Knapp was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Knapp entered the league's concussion protocol after taking a pitch off his mask Friday against the Giants, so the move comes as no surprise. He'll miss at least a week, with Rafael Marchan recalled to serve as J.T. Realmuto's backup.
