Faulkner was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and is active for Friday's game.
EDGE Analysis
He has a 7.94 ERA in 5.2 innings with the Rangers this year and a career 4.70 ERA in 15.1 innings. His minor league numbers are better, but not so much so that owners should expect him to be anything other than a low-leverage arm going forward.

Faulkner was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Faulkner was vastly better during his most recent stint with the major league club, only allowing one earned run in 1.2 innings of work, but he did allow three hits and a walk during that time while only holding one major league strikeout. He'll head back to the minors to develop more. A corresponding move won't be announced until Friday, but there is some speculation that it could be Shin-Soo Choo (calf) who takes his roster spot.

Faulkner was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He had one strikeout with three walks in 4.1 innings of relief for Texas, and will serve as organizational bullpen depth at the Triple-A level. Nick Martinez was recalled as a corresponding move to serve as an innings eater out of the big league bullpen.

Faulkner will be on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Worth of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
A former 14th-round draft pick, the 23-year-old Faulkner struggled as a starter for Double-A Frisco last season, but he quickly moved up the organizational ladder after moving to the bullpen. He had 13 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock, then put up 10 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings with the Rangers. Though he he clearly has late-inning potential, Faulker may find that it's tough to climb the ladder in a solid Texas bullpen. He could, however, replace Jake Diekman as the top left-handed option.
